Hey Strat, I picked up some Tweak when I was in SF a couple of weeks back. Love that shit.

I loved the Tweak as well!

The Smoking wood was not as excellent as I was hoping for but a good substitute for Bourbon County ale. I am just all about the bourbon barrel aged beers right now.

If you've never had any of these I can't recommend them enough. Some of the best beers in the universe.

I bought the Sierra Nevada 4-Way IPA box. It has a Golden IPA and a Black IPA. I've also heard of a White IPA.

If the P in IPA stands for pale, which is a description of the color of the malts, how can you have golden, black, and white IPAs? Shouldn't they be IGA, IBA, and IWA respectively?

I really do love that Black IPA though! I got the white ipa in the last pack I bought.

I can't believe that I've never stumbled upon this thread before. I started a similar thread on another forum that I've frequented for years. I came to this sub-forum to do the same on RM and immediately found this thread. So good on you guys and bad on me for not posting in here for the last 10 years.

Anyhow, I feel like I should do some catching up. The following two posts are my most recent additions on that other forum...

I picked up a six pack of Ballast Point - Victory At Sea this afternoon. I'm about to try it for the first time. It should be good. Ballast Point is a great brewery with a lot of high quality beers. This one is a Porter with Coffee and Vanilla.

The Victory at Sea was absolutely fantastic. I looked it up on Beer Advocate after drinking (and loving) two bottles, and I was happy to see their perfect rating of 100. This might be my new favorite porter, although the Evil Twin Lil' B is also a wonderful porter.

Here is the description from the Beer Advocate page:

"Our Victory at Sea Imperial Porter is a bold, smooth brew with just the right amount of sweetness. We infused this robust porter with whole vanilla beans and San Diego’s own Caffe Calabria coffee beans. The subtle roasted notes and minimal acidity of the cold brewed coffee, balances perfectly with the sweet caramel undertones of the malt, creating a winning combination for your palate."
