And if we don't we're stuck in the living hell he rails about at the end. These parts of the song are critical because the elevate the snark everywhere else. It gives it purpose.

But I think this thing is seen entirely through a religious lens. This, to me, is about religious oppression and hypocrisy. Though, unfortunately, in this country politics and religion are hardly mutually exclusive.

And I'm really still doubting the "something else" bit. I'm just not hearing it. I'm hearing something more like "something real."

it could just be religion. i think the religion stuff is the vehicle for the larger point, rather than the point itself, but I could be totally off on that. The album should make that clearer.

and I think you're right about something real. That's certainly a point for your take if it's accurate.

I have no idea. I just wanted to get my thoughts out tonight. I just appreciate the conversation. And as you say, once we hear the whole album, some of this may become clearer. But it's entirely possible that I'm projecting, as what I think this song is about/is doing is near and dear to my heart. Maybe I WANT the song to be about that because that's what I agree with/can relate to.

whether MYM is a song about religion you can tease a larger point out of, or whether MYM has a larger point and uses religion to make it.

That being said: This might have some pretty heavy religious influence after looking at the album artwork, the single artwork and the last phrase of MYM.
