I dont think he was even trying to hide it. Banning people from muslim countries but then discussing how Christians can get in because of how bad they have been treated.
Trump's own tweets this morning signal he wants the U.S. valuing Christians above Muslims. Couple that with Rudy's talk, I guess if someone wants to tie themselves in knots trying to say this action doesn't target Muslims, they can try, but it seems like an awful amount of work to no end.

That's not meant to be directed at one person, as I've heard people trying to do just that from many different sources. It just seems easier to call it what it is, and if you want to defend on those grounds, have at it.

The freedom of religion this country was founded on is no more. If you're not a gun toting, god fearing Christian, you can get out of America and to fucking hell.
I feel like we have pretty good odds that Trump will say "I'm good with calculation" at least once before this is all over.

It's so fucking nuts that the Director of National Intelligence is all but off the National Security Council, but Steve Bannon will be at the table.
Bannon's stranglehold on Trump's worldview/interpretations/planning has got to be causing some very real GOP panic.

One of the potentially ugly underpinnings of the executive order is there have been multiple instances of border patrol agents purportedly not complying with the federal injunction, refusing to admit attorneys, refusing to speak to legislators. At least one person at LAX got put back on a plane after the injunction came down.
So now the rub is that Border Patrol may in contempt of federal court. Usually, federal authorities would intervene in such a case, but no one has any confidence that Trump would do such a thing. So now what happens if the state intervenes? No one's actually sure they can. And now there's a constitutional crisis. I think when people were referring to Trump as the harbinger of countless dumpster fires, it was going to be things like this. With no knowledge or curiosity of the institutional history of the government, he's going to walk head first into problems like this.

Bloomberg did a decent job explaining this yesterday:
"State Department data show that 34 Syrian Christian refugees were admitted into the U.S. in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30 and 39 so far in the current fiscal year. By comparison, 12,486 Muslim Syrians were admitted in fiscal 2016 and 4,772 so far this year."
So looking at the data from last year, 0.27% of the Syrian refugees admitted where Christians. For a country that is/was 10% Christian that is a bit of a statistical anomaly. What's going here? Is ISIL being nice to them? Bloomberg goes on to say:
"Syria is a majority Muslim nation, and U.S. officials say that Christians fleeing the country’s civil war have largely wound up at refugee processing centers in areas the U.S. government considers unsafe to work in.
Trump’s order would require the government “to the extent permitted by law, to prioritize refugee claims made by individuals on the basis of religious-based persecution.” Only people who are religious minorities in their countries would be eligible."
So now we are getting somewhere. Christians in Syria not only face the same civil war and threat of ISIL that Muslims do, but they are also a minority group struggling under religious-based persecution, so they are being prioritized because they have been prevented from applying for refugee status by the majority religion. So while Trump may be dog-whistling on Twitter, the order is actually somewhat reasonable in identifying the most vulnerable populations and helping them first.

I'm really missing the days of 24 hour live news, which is unexpected.
Back then, they could talk all day but not have anything to talk about, so they just beat everything to death. Now, the world is moving so fast, and they basically just have these talk shows that are so planned and structured, that they are constantly reading yesterday's papers.
Case in point, the administration has stopped talking about an import tax and is almost certainly looking for an alternative option right now, but even Zakaria is still debating the import tax's impact on consumers...presumably because 36 hours ago when they were organizing guests for today's panel, that was still a topic of discussion. So now, whatever plan they eventually announce, they can turn around and say "we never committed to an import tax, that was the fake media lying to you!"

We as a nation are like 10 days of protests and some really well-constructed tire fires away from looking like the early days of the Arab Spring.

I don't find this objectionable, perhaps because it mirrors the approach of both Australia and Canada.
It's simply recognising that Christians in certain areas of the Middle East are more isolated, are in significant danger and presumably have many fewer options for resettlement nearby.
It's not a ban against Muslims, so much as its preferential assessment for Christians.

This should be something everybody should ponder next time they want to take to the streets about some hysterical grievance.
