Re: TV: Better Call Saul
Kim's character arc has been all about how they're much closer than even she thought, the tension between the person she thought she was vs. what she is actually capable of. That was one of the main points of season 5tragabigzanda wrote:Yeah the class disparity — and I mean class as in their behavior and morals more so than economics — between those two has been pretty stark since the beginning.

She's attracted to Jimmy partly because of his shystery tendencies, which she initially indulges in as a lark. She goes back and forth during seasons 4 and 5 as to how far she could go down that road herself. It's a struggle for her, but by the end of season 5, she's all in

Re: TV: Better Call Saul
I’m interested to see if they delve into her backstory more in the final season. We only caught a glimpse of her mom’s behavior and young Kim’s reaction to it. Did she ever break bad as a kid? Was her father a conman? That seed doesn’t necessarily have to be planted when she was a child for her to act out now; it’s very likely that her current behavior was influenced by Jimmy and her playing the part of The Good Lawyer for too long.Jorge wrote:She's attracted to Jimmy partly because of his shystery tendencies, which she initially indulges in as a lark. You said the difference in their behavior and morals has been "pretty stark since the beginning". But that's not really truetragabigzanda wrote:Jorge no one is arguing what you said nor does it negate the truth of my statement. You’re obviously high on sugary breakfast cereal.

Re: TV: Better Call Saul
She's euphoric after every single time she takes the Saul route, and by the end of season 5 she's more than willing to cross a very dangerous line. That's like her whole thing, her whole arc, it's not just goofy one-offs. "You wouldn't be okay with that." "Wouldn't I?"
They're not the exact same, but they share a lot, and Jimmy pushes her to indulge impulses that were already there. Gilligan and Gould talk about it here: https://www.vulture.com/2020/03/kim-wex ... -saul.html

I'm wrapping up a rewatch right now (on episode 6 of season 5), it really couldn't be clearer

Re: TV: Better Call Saul
Jorge is right, this show could be called Breaking Bad and be about Kim.
The ending of S5 was super clear and frightening too.

Re: TV: Better Call Saul
100% team Jorge. We just finished the season 4 finale and it's striking how often Kim has had those moments and how legitimately into it she is. After she came up with the elaborate plan to get Huell out of trouble Jimmy came and was all like "I know we can't do that anymore..." and she throws him up against the wall and makes out with him and says to do it again. So then she creates a scam for a little nothing reason to help Mesa Verde make an aesthetic change to a new branch that they had already acknowledged couldn't be done and had moved on from, but still she does it and as Jimmy points out to her afterward, that wasn't exactly for a "good reason."
When I saw the ending of season 5 for the first time the reveal that it's actually Kim Breaking Bad (like VG just said) felt like one of the greatest plot twists ever. I always assumed the show was about the decent of Jimmy into Saul Goodman but this is more Kim Breaking Bad than Jimmy. Rewatching has gone a long way to show that the reveal wasn't out of nowhere, it's been slowly building since the very beginning of the show.

Season 1 Kim is not season 5 Kim and it’s weird that neither of you acknowledge that
