I live in hope for lots of films and albums that I just don’t like and don’t see what the fuss is about cos plenty of both have made sense and revealed their beauty years n years later.
So it’s ok to and you’re allowed change your mind. In fact it’s a good thing.

Blade Runner 2049 is a juvenile piece of shit and always will be. It’s like the opposite of Wild Strawberries.

Ryan Gosling is the only reason to watch that film.

Yeah, art will give you the chance to come back to it and appreciate it in a different light for sure.

Agreed. And that’s still not enough of a reason to sit through all three interminable hours of that garbage.

Yeah it had nothing for me st all that film apart from him. And as with the original I feel like I’m missing out. But as I said. Maybe it’ll come round for me some day. It’s not like I haven’t tried. I stick it on every few years and always with the same yep. Still don’t get it.

The original has some serious flaws for me but it’s a billion times better than 2049. It has real ideas and gobsmackingly gorgeous cinematography and production design, which is a lot more than I can say about the new dumb dumb sad robot love idiot movie.

In other news, I’m suffering though Bergman’s Brink of Life right now. Oof, what a slog. Why on earth did he choose THIS as a follow-up to Wild Strawberries?

Just rewatched The Virgin Spring and I’m now convinced it’s one of the greatest movies ever made.

"The Sound of Music" always looked extremely boring to me as a kid. A few years ago after a visit to Salzburg and seeing some of the sites from the film and real life story I finally watched the movie. Turns out it's pretty fantastic.

:hooray: I'll always love this movie. Used to be yearly tradition around the New Year that we'd watch it as a family. I hated it - then I moved out of the house, and a few years missed the tradition and then later bought it to watch

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

One of the most visually beautiful movies ever made. That opening is just overwhelming.

Paul, Apostle of Christ - was a bit slow, but a good watch all the same.

There’s Something About Mary is on HBO this month. One of my all time favorite comedies; so many gags that still make me laugh 20 years later.
