I'm almost done with my reread of Clash of Kings. Been enjoying the Theon chapters way more the second time around.
Don't worry, the chapters get longer in AFFC/ADWD.
Hopefully the reading both at the same time trick makes them go by a bit quicker. I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy the re-read of those the most though.
I certainly did. The new characters are a lot easier to keep track of the second time around.

I'm also doing a re-read right now and it's cool that I enjoy different chapters more now than on the first time reading. I don't care that much for completely plot-driven chapters but really enjoy the character focused ones. The first time I just wanted to know what will happen next and slow chapters were kind of frustrating. Now that I know the story already it's the complete opposite. Eddard sometimes bores me when he plays detective because the mystery is gone. There isn't that much happening at the wall in Game of Thrones but I enjoy those chapters very much now.

On a mostly unrelated note, I'm taking a break before going through them again to read Jonah Keri's history of the Expos.

Yup. I enjoy the smaller character moments and minor players a lot more the second time around.

Discusses some stuff from TWOW preview chapters, in case you're avoiding those:

Have you read about the Euron chapter that was most recently previewed?

I feel like I started it and then stopped. I'm not big into reading preview chapters without having the whole text to dive into. I've seen summaries, though.

The Euron stuff is so good.

I really don't remember much about the Iron Islands chapters from my first read. Those are probably the ones I am most looking forward to re-reading.

Not as interesting as previous videos, but still worth watching (it's short):

Sorry if it's been posted. Brilliant talk with Martin and his superior, Robin Hobb. All about both of their worlds and stories. .

A reddit user wants to take bets that a human being will walk on Mars before A Dream of Spring comes out. Thoughts?

I'm not taking that bet. There's a 50% chance that book never comes out.

Hell, I'm not sure I'd bet against that poster if they wanted to make the same bet with Winds of Winter, frankly.

It sounds like you are taking the bet, Joey.

Sorry, the way I read your post, I thought he was taking the position that someone would walk on Mars before the book comes out. In which case, I'm not taking that bet because I'd be betting against him. And if he's betting on Mars first, then I agree.
Team Mars First!

I actually think the time between TWoW and ADoS will only be about half that between ADwD and TWoW.

Let's hope so. Do you think a TWoW will come out next year?
