It's unconfirmed. But DLC is definitely coming - I believe Nintendo inadvertently leaked the information themselves. I think this will be the big announcement at the August Nintendo Direct presention.

I haven't seen a single Lynel yet. Are there many out there?

There seems to be less around. I defeated a blue. A white hit me for about 15 hearts with a single swing.

Literally everyone I fight takes off all of my hearts in a single swing

Did you do the quests to make the Great Fairys open their hut? Each one wants to hear an instrument. You've got to complete all 4 before you can upgrade your items to the max.

If the fairy says they can upgrade to "the max" then you got them all and finished all those quests. There's 4 Great Faires ( and 1 Horse Fairy).
