I think meeting him before the LB era would have been awesome. Now I just worry it would be a disappointment. I feel like he’d very politely give me the cold shoulder unless there was a really compelling reason to chat.

(responding to a question about his tweet)

who is he? does his opinion dark matter?
Matt Pinfield hosted a late night music video program in the '90's called 120 Minutes, which played a lot of videos that were too niche to be played during more primetime hours. A lot of bands like Wilco, Pavement, etc., I heard about for the first time on Pinfield's show in the mid-'90's. Not sure what he's been up to since but he always seemed like a pretty knowledgeable guy.
oh, nice thanks for the info

He did an interview for Prato's Lanegan book, which I'm currently reading and hadn't heard his name in ages. He hit the skids for a bit but seems to have kept pretty busy since the mid-2000s.

Pinfied did and interview with stone last summer.
Stone said the album was really good (“trust me” he said) and then some self deprecating chat about his mediocre guitar skills.

Why the fuck did they sit on this thing for two goddamn years? Makes zero sense.

This is true. There was no reason to sit on the album other than they wanted to tour Gigaton still, but even then, just tour both.

Yeah that part is confusing. I thought the recording sessions were after Ed’s solo album already came out, but April 2021?!?

The 17 vinyl variants aren't going to produce themselves!

Trag: they needed time to carefully milk every last ounce of integrity out of the mix

do you think they considered calling it quits? might that explain Ed's alleged "last record" joke at the listening party?

It’s probably just as simple as they were proud of Gigaton and didn’t really get a chance to promote it. But if that was the case, it could have come out last year.

Ok, nevermind. The interview says four days in 2021 and two weeks recording in the summer of 2022.
