The Argonaut wrote:Let's keep in mind Nic Pizzolatto did not write Season 4. So, for an anthology series, that kind of makes it True Detective in name only
In fact, she wrote a thing called Night Country. And then HBO came a-calling and asked if she had any pitches for that brand. She pitched Night Country and they said, 'LET'S GOOOOOOOO!' And she then rewrote the script to be a TD property.
Also, when asked about McConaughey being an EP on the show, Jodie Foster said, (paraphrasing) "Yep, because he's in there somewhere, he's in the mix." Which, of course, broke TD twitter/reddit.

That's all fine and good. But True Detective=Nic Pizzollato in some substantial way, so his non-involvement means something about what this season is and what it is not. I will leave it up to you decide what that means for you

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

It means we might finally get a complete season of a potentially great TV series.

while i could agree with this, i want to finish this season to understand what it means on terms of how profound is the changed. Episode one so far was not really far away from what i expected from a true detective series, and i mean that in the best possible way.
Argo have you read Nic´s books? they are awesome.

those rumors were true, Travis is Rust´s father. I didnt quite liked how the women spills his last name though, it felt like she was winking at us. Also the Tuttles are behind the funding for the whole thing, that was interesting besides all the creepy dolls and symbols too.

McConaughey has to show up at some point, right? These are not just throwaway Easter eggs they’re tossing in here.
