Which movie are you watching?? There are some fun ones in that series...specially the Manhattan one.
Jason takes Manhattan? You mean, Jason takes a Boat?

I watched Part VII.
Thats the one with the girl with powers?? great stuff. I love part 4 with corey feldman...yeaah.
I'd seen all of the movies before, but I bought the entire series a few weeks ago and have been working my way through them.

My favorite has always been part VI.
The most underrated is Jason Goes To Hell - it gets a lot of hate I don't understand, and it's got one of the best endings of all time.
VII is probably the worst.
Best kill of the series is the frozen face counter smash in Jason X.
Jason goes to hell is really fun,..i saw that one in a theatre...cool.

The Iceman. A pretty killer cast as far as I'm concerned. Good character development and some period progression that felt genuine.
Shannon's acting is top notch here. I'd give it a 7.25/10, slightly above its imdb and rottentom rating.

Also Winona Ryder acts well and is still a babe at 42.

I'm on a Herzog kick.

Encounters at the End of the World (2007)
Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2010)
Happy People: A Year in the Taiga (2010)

All really good, but Encounters was probably my favorite. He just seems to have a real way of bringing out the humanity in everything.

Captain Phillips.

No surprise here, Tom Hanks is good, the direction is good...some tension, some drama....good enough.

So I don't know how or why this movie is on youtube in full already, but it is. Anyway, it's one of my favorites so far this year. And superb acting all around.

Man of Steel. Wow! Even worse than I imagined. I think it starts decent enough, but the endless destruction was just tedious as hell. And really none of the action was fun, it was just kind of a chore to get through. Zero chemistry between Superman and Louis Lane, like watching two paper weights. And that's all Snyder's fault because Amy Adams is a decent actress.

A triumph in that the director didn't waste 30 minutes building a shallow, meaningless, unbelievable love story. Also if you dismiss the fight sequences as a chore to get through you deserve to be underwhelmed.

Yeah well, I cared so little about any of the characters in the movie that the fight sequences carried no weight. The endless CGI and destruction was so over-the-top and fake, yet managed to be no fun as well.

Dredd was 10-times better than this steaming pile.

I loved Dredd but under which circumstance are we drawing this parallel? Am I missing something?

At 4am this one didn't leap out at me. Apologies.

I like the idea of Dredd being thrown into the gauntlet of comic book movies.

I'm assuming the O'Bannon one. It's pretty great.

Rank 'em!

1. Dawn of the Dead (original -- fuck you, Snyder)
2. Night of the Living Dead (original)
3. The Return of the Living Dead

Kings of Summer
Had a pretty good critical buzz on the independent film festival circuit earlier in the year. It's been compared to Stand By Me in that it's a coming of age story about a group of teenage boys living on their own in the woods for part of a summer. Not a great movie but I liked it enough; even if wrapped up too easily & convienently in the last fifteen minutes. There's some similiarties to Mud too.
Watching the movie I was trying to figure out where I had seen the lead before. I looked him up; while he's had a role in an ABC family series it was his one episode from last season's Boardwalk Empire I remembered him from. He played the likable kid that stole liquor from Nucky's shipments.
