Advocating for shooting American citizens is under no circumstances reasonable presidential behavior, or even within a thousand miles of it. The terminological difference you point out above is inconsequential.

My friend spoke with a prominent lawyer in Minneapolis and relayed the following:
So preface - the explanation may anger some people, but I’m simply regurgitating what I was told - Basically, from what I understand from a prominent attorney in Mpls, is because there has been talk that George Floyd was on some sort of drugs when this happened (I’m not saying he was or wasn’t...I don’t know)....they want to make sure they can rule out that the cause of death wasn’t a heart attack. If that’s the case, then the knee to the throat wasn’t the cause of death and this changes the kind of charges they can file when arresting the officer. If the death was attributed to the knee to the throat then they can file different, harsher charges. They want to make sure they have an airtight case. Either way, he’ll be charged, but it’s my understanding they don’t want to screw up anything due to technicalities. Again, I’m just regurgitating what I’ve been told by a sound legal mind. I get that people are angry. We all should be, but from what it sounds like they think people will probably be even more angry if this is screwed up due to a technicality...

No. He’s been arrested. Charged papers are in the process of being signed and out into system.
