Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is one of the most visually beautiful comic book movies you have ever seen. The picture is filled with moments of visual poetry and pure cinema in a way that resembles one glorious splash page after another. If you have any interest in seeing it, I beg of you to see it on the biggest IMAX screen you can find. It is every bit as big and spectacular as you might hope.

The best moments of Dawn of Justice resemble nothing less than a feature length adaptation of a series of Alex Ross paintings in all their naturalistic glory. But amid the visual treats is an utter mess of thinly sketched characters, haphazard plotting, surprisingly jumbled action, and “cut your nose to spite your face” world building. It’s not a success either as a stand-alone Man of Steel sequel or a would-be kick-off to the DC Extended Universe, and attempts to insert Batman and his Super Friends do real damage to the story and thus the film. And, my word, this movie is almost a self-parody on “grimdark.”

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Man, I wish. I've never seen anything like what's happening at Hamilton. They have a $100,000,000 advance. I've never seen that in the history of Broadway. My best advice is to buy way way in advance, like 6 months to a year. OR to try your luck with their lottery.

I know a few reputable brokers who I could recommend. Guys that won't steal your money or scam you. But even if I pull every string I have, I'm not sure I could get anything under $500 / ticket.

You could also try to see if anything opens up at 96 hours before the day you want to go. That's typically when house seats get released. I'm guessing they either don't release HS (because they sell them all) or if they do get released, they go directly to Premium. But you could try.

When are you going to be here, Jorge? I can try to call the box office directly and see if I they'll hook me up with house seat price (which is probably around $200). But I'd be surprised if they can do anything. The show is still so hot, it's highly unlikely that the BO has access to any house seats.

A brooding Batman -- which we've just recently seen on-screen -- portrayed by an actor whose own celebrity has eclipsed his ability to sell a role.

Of all the things in this movie worth criticizing, this is one I'll step up and defend. Affleck is the most compelling portrayal of Batman we've seen on screen. Leagues above Bale, whom I really liked.

I don't doubt that he has the chops to pull it off. But I can't ever divorce his characters from his being Ben Affleck in real life. The only recent role I thought he knocked out of the park was in Gone Girl, because that character basically was Ben Affleck.

Once again, trag, this is your personal issue, and has nothing to do with the movie.

Objectively, I'm sure the FX look great and this movie will please a lot of people. Subjectively, I think it looks like shit.

Follow up: I actually think it has a lot to do with the movie. Casting a role doesn't just happen in a vacuum; there are all sorts of considerations, and an actors humongous celebrity should certainly be considered when trying to make a viewer empathize with a character.

It really is insane. I fucking should have seen it last year when it was off-Broadway. I knew better, too. But I just kept thinking, "Meh, I'll use my connections and get free tickets once it moves to Broadway." Fucking stupid. I still haven't seen it and I have no idea when I'll be able to.
