Congressional Democrats should be all over all the Republican silence over this. Chris Collins telling Cuomo we need to "just move on" from this are pathetic. They better start the narrative now that House Republicans are complicit in all of this if they want to potentially take back the House next year.

Their MO since day 1 has been "just keep distracting and it will go away." Technically it is an opinion but it's an educated one knowing how this administration has operated since it was a campaign.

Trump's real weakness is what everyone thought was his strength--political inexperience. It's only a matter of time before there's such a breach of protocol (see the Mar-A-Lago North Korea meeting) that it costs him his presidency. My gut has been saying that the Russia trail ends at the top, that we'll find out Trump knew he was colluding with them from the start, however he's apparently so naive about the workings of government that he'll be chased out of Washington before we get there.

It's funny, I saw some guy's truck yesterday with a giant "LOCK HER UP" sticker on the back, and thought of the irony that probably in a few months we'll be saying "Lock him up" for Trump.

I'm not sure it's really opinion. The Trump administration knew about that Flynn had mischaracterized the call since last month. He stayed in the position until yesterday. They expressed support for him until basically yesterday afternoon. They weren't going to do anything about it until public pressure made that no longer an option. If they were going to do something about it, they would have done it when they found out he had lied about the call.

He didn't just stay in the position, he retained full access to classified and secured information. That's an indicator of intention.

And again, Donald's response this AM was literally "the real problem is that you all found out!" Which hardly says "gee wiz guys I was just waiting until after his birthday to let him go."

This goes back to what I was saying about Sean Spicer earlier: if the likes of he and Conway aren't going to provide meaningful answers, then stop dignifying their presence. As the end of the video says, bringing them on to your turf is particularly terrible.

But what’s driving these low ratings? Is it just strongly Democratic groups that opposed Trump throughout the campaign that continue to be displeased? Or is Trump struggling among a broader swath of the public, including groups that fueled his election and supported previous Republican presidents?

To answer that question, Gallup broke out its large sample of job-approval surveys over the past week ending Sunday — more than 3,500 interviews -- into a wide cross section of demographic and political groups. To put those results in historical context, we ran the same breakdowns in a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll conducted around this point in 2001 as George W. Bush was about three weeks into his first term (raw data courtesy of the Roper Center).

Among independents, Bush held a 57 percent approval rating at this point in 2001 compared with 35 percent for Trump. It took Bush until his second term in office -- Feb. 9, 2005, to be exact -- for him to dip to Trump’s current support among independents.

Trump’s standing is not weaker than Bush’s -- but also not stronger -- among some of the core demographics that fueled his primary and general-election campaign. Trump has a 68 percent approval rating among white men without college degrees, for instance, similar to Bush’s 66-percent mark with this group in early 2001.

Or the FBI was still investigating. Or waiting for an intelligence briefing on why the spooks were allowed to listen in on an American citizen's call (FISA warrant?) and what else might be there. Or any of 1 million other things. No one here has any idea what is going on behind those doors. My point is not that Flynn deserves the benefit of the doubt, he should never have been nominated and god help us if Pertraeus is the replacement, but this thread is reaching FreePer levels of rapidly spit internet rumors and see what sticks, so maybe let's try and keep the primary sourced facts separate from what we wish they were.
