It’s the best thing they’ve done since Riot Act, and I’m saying that as someone who loved S/T when it came out. I still appreciate it, but it’s not as good as RA, and that very well could be due to the mix.

With this one though...it just feels like the closest cohesive effort since RA and Yield. They brought their give a shit, and Josh harnessed that.

Its like each song was produced, mixed, mastered, independently for what the song calls for yet maintaining a cohesive beautiful sound.

As opposed to what felt like a straight across the board mix to each of the last two records from BoB.

It's better than LB, BS, S/T.
It's maybe better than Riot Act, Yield, No Code, Vitalogy, VS, and Ten.
It's not better than Binaural.

One of my biggest takeaways from this album thus far has been how obvious it is now what a disservice BoB had been doing them the last two albums.

It's been a few days and I think I am done with this album. It was fun for a couple spins and now I've had enough forever. Clairvoyants grew on me, that song will probably be in regular rotation, actually

but listened to the Quick Escape snippet and liked

enjoying not having to keep up with 50 pages of this thread per day

Wonderful late-career album, and most assuredly deserving of its four-star status.

Although while assessing the album's sonic and thematic structure, I'm left wondering if it may have benefited from a few tracks being held over on recent, previous albums.

With the advantage of hindsight, there's a slight 'what may have been' impression, similar to Binaural. And on that note, Alright definitely impresses as a Binaural era cut - quite possibly the love child of Fatal and Strangest Tribe.

Not much to critique with the abundance of songs that I enjoy from the album. Although going electric out of the bridge for Comes Then Goes may have conveyed a needed release for the simmering emotion sustained throughout.

I'd consider the following track list for Gigaton a five-star album, equaling their greatest work.

Quick Escape
Buckle Up
Infallible
Alright
Pendulum
Yellow Moon
Dance of the Clairvoyants
Force of Nature
Take the Long Way
Comes Then Goes
River Cross

Nonetheless, splendid job Pearl Jam!

Got my cd on east coast of Maryland today

Packaging is nice and slick...icebergs kind of shimmer as does the water

This thing is somehow better every time i hear it

I havent felt that way since binaural

This is this second run thru with the cd

Its exceeded my expectations sonically comparing to the one that was out there

Comes and goes strings are right in the middle of the soundstage at the moment, and its still got enough low end bass to vibrate the walls/floor

Anyone notice the recording studio credits?

Seems not a ton of cds have landed yet

No, I'd argue there are two exceedingly strong albums to be combined from their last three productions. I've merely selected the suitable tracks from those which I believe produces the most superior version of Gigaton.
