I guess that video has been around for a while, but if it's been shown at Trump events that's really fucked up.

You know how many red state Christians were probably shot at that god awful country music festival in Vegas?BurtReynolds wrote:funny how no one was upset when it was just red state Christians being slaughtered at church by a posh British elite.
Is that The Kingsman's fault?Strat wrote:You know how many red state Christians were probably shot at that god awful country music festival in Vegas?BurtReynolds wrote:funny how no one was upset when it was just red state Christians being slaughtered at church by a posh British elite.
The left would be free of most of these silly accusations of instigating violence if like 95% of dumbass celebrities weren't left wing.BurtReynolds wrote:Yeah totally. Slapping a CNN logo on a guy's head is so much more dangerous.
What was the original scene about but a "fetishizing of the feeling of victory over those who disagree with them to the point of dehumanizing anyone who is not them (in this case, liberal Hollywood)"?McParadigm wrote:To be clear, I think the video is like super, super dumb, and the organization that hosted the event it was shown at has had Roger Stone and Don Jr as keynote speakers, so it’s basically grown man daycare.
The existence of the video though, and its prolonged appreciation within that circle, is just another example of the right’s fetishizing of the feeling of victory over those who disagree with them to the point of dehumanizing anyone who is not them

I am really appreciating this last minute push to take the noodle brained divisionMcParadigm wrote:Burt, there is no version of this world where I’m going to pretend to humor the spin that a lowbrow movie’s jackoff violence porn is equatable to a political action organization’s fantasizing about their cult leader executing those who disagree with or report on him. And there’s no version of this world where I don’t think that you are forcing that association out of ideological, defensive need.
This isn’t the source material. This isn’t the very stupid movie. This isn’t, in fact, **any** movie. Picture Chelsea Clinton speaking at an event that coops Django and Inglorious Basterds footage to meme the torture and execution of Republicans, reporters, and any Democrat that didn’t bend the knee to Hillary. Picture members of antifa sharing it gleefully, months after Fox News was the recipient of multiple bomb threats. Really imagine that. While President Hillary Clinton was daily telling her frothing supporters that conservative media was the enemy of the people. Picture President Hillary not condemning the bloodbath her followers laughed at, and instead continuing to vilify anyone who critiqued her at all in the aftermath.
Picture the BurtReynolds account mocking conservatives for being uptight/upset about the obviously harmless joke. Ask yourself honestly if he would.
And there is that famous handwaving I've come to expect: "that was just a dumb movie! This is IMPORTANT!"McParadigm wrote:Burt, there is no version of this world where I’m going to pretend to humor the spin that a lowbrow movie’s jackoff violence porn is equatable to a political action organization’s fantasizing about their cult leader executing those who disagree with or report on him. The right certainly played that up to the fullest, though in my opinion it mostly just illustrates the hypocrisy of the left saying the right is the sole promoter of violence (if you can even call it that) against the other side.Peeps wrote:burt im going to be lazy here so let me knowBurtReynolds wrote:Yeah totally.
