The only way all of today makes sense is if you see it as Sondland, Mulvaney, and Barr all more or less worrying about their own personal danger, and either moving to frame the story in a way that reduces their own risk (DOJ’s statement, Sondland’s testimony) or signaling that they’ll squeal if anyone tries to Rudy them (Mick).
