Yeah, the writer of that review needs to head on over to the journey thread as proof that it actually be the exact opposite. I would describe Eddie’s pace more like restful.

I know we like to bang on Vedder these days, but its not like McCready is writing Faithful or Stone is writing (insert a number of good songs) anymore for the band.
Ament and Cameron are the most interesting song writers in the band right now by a long shot.

Cameron, always and forever. I feel like Stone is kind of a wildcard -- really, since Binaural, his only two sole writing credits have (I think) been "All or None" and "Buckle Up." I love both of those. It's hard to fault him for collaborations that didn't pan out (i.e. "Amongst the Waves," "Let the Records Play"). It's not like he's bringing in music that's completely DOA; there are some cool changes in "ATW," and "LTRP" has a classic Stone swagger to it. But once they enter that band environment, through whatever combination of factors may influence them, they just don't take shape into compelling finished products.
The different flavors we got on Yield, Binaural, and Riot Act to an extent, from the sort of "segregation of duties" in the songwriting, was really the most diverse and surprising PJ ever felt to me. I just wish we could go back to hearing some more of the other guys' voices, with less input from Eddie (whose songs have a place, don't get me wrong -- just too much of one sometimes). Gigaton was a step back in that direction, but I remain ever hopeful that next time around we'll get to see an even bigger one.

I think whoever posted their review mentioned earlier that they won a contest to listen to the album early from a radio station.
Either way, it’ll be out in 36 hours so not in a rush to find it if it is out there.

That was Stone/music, Eddie/lyrics, I believe. As far as I remember, Gigaton marks the first time other lyricists have shown up in any significant way on record since Binaural/Riot Act (besides Mike's Inside Job one-off).
I think it can be hard to dial down PJ's direction or peaks and valleys to a single member, partially because it doesn't really feel like we know all that much about their process. That being said, I've only heard the three Earthling singles, and haven't heard any of the live tracks. But based on those songs, I think it's a fair possibility that the approach Pearl Jam took in Backspacer/LB of songs obsessed with simplicity and straightforwardness, written and recorded quickly, may have been something Eddie really wanted. I would say the three Earthling songs have far more in common with the songs on Backspacer/LB then Gigaton, though that feeling could change in the context of the full record.

There have been other lyrical contributions. Wasn't Ghost penned by Jeff?
I don't think Jeff needs soap to make him taller.
