I've heard one or two listening party folks say that React, Respond is more like the logical extension to SBWM. It has been maybe my most anticipated track since those metal door leaks.
To me, I don't get any of SBWM in Running. In fact, I still feel like Running is a Millencolin song when the guitars come in after Jeff's bass line to open, which is awesome.
No way (to me) Running is better than DM. Better bridge, however. I think Running will fit perfectly where it is slotted on the record IF the songs on either side sounds like what's been suggested to us. And, the little segue after WFS Stone discussed could be a perfect table setter for the frantic pace of running.
DM 4.75 (this has gone up)
Running 3.5

I'm really intrigued by the billiards ball sound to start the album, and the instrumental segue between two songs; love those little extra touches

I much prefer SBWM, but at least initially that song did nothing for me as well. I just really started loving it within the context of the entire album. Hoping that something similar will happen with Running.
I think SBWM has lyrical, thematic, and structural layers that really reward going deep and treating it seriously as a song that has things to say and not slide into the 'throwaway' track mindset.
That's not to say that there isn't more to discover with Running, and the album may give it a new or deeper contextualization. but this feels like a superficial comparison. Smile and Hail Hail both feature crunchy guitars, but we can readily see how that's a weird 1-1 comparison

yeah, this is true. When Gigaton was released i couldnt stop listening and really wanted to. It was a perfect song between WES and Dance, which are more complex maybe and serious.

SBWM is one of the best examples of a song I didn't like on its own but appreciate within the context of the album.

Prisoner, keys, and cuffs got me on first listen. To my ears it evokes
Hook, line, and sinker.
Then that solo.
Love it.

These songs all rule so hard and are so much better than running and i like running.

Same. Bleed Together reminds me more of No Attention.

"And love notwithstanding. We are each of us fucked"
My fav lyric from Gigaton
"It’s gonna take much more than ordinary love, To lift this up"
"All the answers will be found, In the mistakes that we have made"
