Paul Rudd is good. Steve Carell is amazing. And Jack Black damn near steals the movie in that one scene with the dog.
Jack Black is terrible, but I didn't mind him in that one scene.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

He's so hit/miss it isn't even funny. He's a one trick pony who really shouldn't try to stretch too far. He's awesome in High Fidelity and on the Tenacious D TV series and Orange County. And, of course, in that scene in Anchorman. But he's a terrible actor. Still, I enjoy him far more than Will Ferrell.

I also thought Orange County was a not bad movie. And Bernie, while very flawed, showcases a more restrained performance. But a lot of his stuff (like Tenacious D) really grates on me.
He's actually outstanding in Bernie. That's the one exception I've found to him stepping outside of his own box. I love that movie and I love him in it.

Oh and he's pretty good in that one Ben Stiller turd where they invent a spray to get rid of dog crap.

Why are we still talking about this and not ranking Will Ferrell movies?

You know, I actually really liked Saving Silverman, too. It's a dumb movie but it's fun as shit and it makes me laugh like a lunatic. He's fun in that, too. He's trying a bit too hard maybe and it's really the ensemble that makes that thing work. But I enjoyed it.

I guess I like Jack Black. Huh.

:haha:

Envy? I fucking love that movie. It's so, SO bad. Christopher Walken is the best part of it, hands down. But, yeah, Jack Black's fine in that too. Man what a terrible movie.

I laughed so hard in the theater that I bought it on DVD. I even hosted a watch party for it in college. Man, my friends did not like it.

I still put it on from time to time and laugh. The replay value is surprising. Especially if you go a few years between viewings.

i've come around a bit on jack black, but still feel he's vastly overrated...i think i tend to like him in smaller roles, but when he's the featured performer it grows tiresome for me
