This is my only very small problem with this episode. The 'Previously On' segment kinda gave that part away. So I knew he was going to survive that fight. *I'm not book reader BTW. Had no idea this awesome scene was coming.

that's been my biggest gripe with the "previously on" segment

Normally the way they spell it out hasn't bothered me. But this one did.

seriously, Baelor, The Watchers on the Wall, Blackwater, and the Mountain and the Viper are objectively better than that episode

so showing Barristan being dismissed 2 years after it happened only to have him show up didn't make you roll your eyes?

I think I preferred The Children to The Watchers on the Wall.

and let's be honest, the main thing that made blackwater good was the special effects.

and guys, I stand by this: as a non-book reader, I thought this was the best episode of the series.

and chud and spike, that horse died a long time ago -- there's not a whole lot left to beat.

Guys, reading this and the book thread late every Sunday night is my favorite time on the board. And, obviously, this thread is better because everybody appreciates the complex visible medium of TV.

I can't pick out my favorite episode but this one is in the top 3. Sets up the last two episodes of this season really well too.

There's been times I watched GoT on Monday instead of Sunday. With all the write ups around I'm very glad I watched it live.

so a lot of the zombie army looked like they had been decomposed and dead for awhile. i was under the impression that the white walkers can only raise those that they have killed themselves (like we saw at the end of the battle scene last night). if that's the case, why did the walkers wait until some of the dead decomposed before raising them?

Great episode. Need to watch that one again. Easily the best episode of the season.

maybe they decompose over time after being raised, so the skeleton dudes have been around longer.

i actually just looked on the game of thrones wikia and it says they reanimate all dead, not just the ones that they killed.

it also says this: "Reanimation will halt the physical process of rot and decay, but otherwise it does not restore previous damage."

by the way, this was f'n awesome:
