Waits, however, I didn't even know about until my musical tastes branched out in the 00's, but he's since become a top 5 artist for me. Sometimes it's a bit of a slog to get to the gems on his albums, but Bone Machine is a fantastic record pretty much from top to bottom.
Same with me.

Waits is the only one on my team (so far) that I discovered well after the fact. Just got into him in the past few years.

But Bone Machine is a beast. It's my all time favorite album. And Earth Died Screaming was my first favorite Tom Waits song. It's still top five for sure. And, as I said, it's #2 on Bone Machine for me.
And I'm guessing Goin' Out West isn't #1 since you ummed and ahhed about it? I was tossing up Earth Died Screaming or
Spoiler: show
Dirt in the Ground
but I just happened to have listened to EDS more recently.

Yeah, my favorite song on the record is a later track. But I don't dislike one single thing about Bone Machine. The other pick you were considering is a song I once described as

bath tub sex
. And I've never been able to beat that description.

Great song.

I imagine Elliott will take one of my two remaining slots. He's got so much phenomenal material, but this one is definitely a favorite.

Nice pick.
