Of course it does. But they only panicked because of the dumb fanboy backlash over BVS.
The BvS backlash went far beyond fanboys, though. It's unfair and disingenuous to blame one group of fans when it was so widely disliked.
You're right. I actually came close to removing "fanboys" from that post before I posted it.

I just...I hate comic fanboys so much, Joey. :shake:
I understand, friend. They can be insufferable. But so can everyone. It's the whole notion of "being faithful" to the comics that gets my head a-aching. Comics aren't "faithful" to the characters over time. That needs to stop being a criticism for these films. They have bigger problems.
I consider myself a person that would like fidelity to a source. However, it doesn't have to be slavishly faithful. I would just like the characters to be written, acted and directed like the characters. I think if the studios ( yeah, my finger's pointed to Fox and WB movies) would actually allow that to happen, the movies would be better and better received. In my opinion, this is why Marvel has had the successes they've had in both their films and TV shows. The characters are very well represented. BvS had Wonder Woman as the most faithful in that movie. Superman shouldn't even have been called Superman he was so far off the mark. Batman was VERY close, but when he killed those dudes, that put him over the line. Killing the badguys is what we, in the real world, would do. Superheroes are supposed to be above that. They are what we aspire to.

WB and DC's shows they have on TV are a much better product than their movies have been. And they are closer to what the characters actually are. I don't think that's coincidence.
ugh

I'm not a big comic book guy, so it's hard for me to completely relate to the idea. Most of these characters are so old and have changed again and again over the decades that having them portrayed differently in film seems like a small issue, to me. I just don't care about that. Obviously, others do. If your take on the character is new or different, fine. Just so long as it's compelling and translates well to film as a medium.

Batman killing people is bothersome, but only because I happen to like that one particular characteristic of his AND I've seen more than a few compelling (and stylistically different) versions of Batman that maintain that characteristic. I still haven't seen BvS, but having Batman kill people feels kinda lame on it's face. It feels like Snyder couldn't figure out how to make him interesting without that. Maybe that's the case, maybe it isn't. I don't know. But I'm not going to just hate the movie or the character without seeing the movie. Maybe having Batman kill people works in the world Snyder establishes. Maybe it's necessary or at least interesting in support of the movie's larger themes.

My point is, that change isn't an automatic dealbreaker for me. If the movie is shitty AND there's no need for Batman to be a killer, then that's a dealbreaker for me.

It is such a massive non-issue that I can't believe anyone is actually talking about it.

I tend to be the opposite. I tend to want changes and differences across different mediums. If you're too faithful to the book or whatever it can make for a shitty movie. Movies are different. TV is different. Books are different. Make the best thing you can for the medium you've chosen and embrace the differences between. What works well in a comic might not work as well on film. So be it. If I want the exact story from a book, I'll read the fucking book. I want the movie adaptation to be new and different and equally as compelling.

I still think the comic book thing has mode into over saturation.

What was once fantastic is now mundane. The x men films got worse as they went along. As did avengers to a degree.

I stopped caring about them, in general, a while ago. I still haven't seen Age of Ultron, or Civil War, or Thor 2, or GotG, or BvS, or Suicide Squad, or.... and it goes on and on.

Suicide Squad had me excited. I was looking forward to seeing one of these in theaters again. Now, I think I'll wait.

You should be much more excited to see GotG over Suicide Squad.

I haven't seen The Wolverine (the one in Japan). But otherwise, yeah, I'd probably rank these about the same. Might put X1 over DoFP. Maybe.

Yeah, some of the order there is pretty up for debate, but the general theme is that they haven't "gotten worse." And honestly, I dont hate X3 like so many other people do because so much of the complaints were fanboy centric (OMG TOO MANY MUTANTS... BUT NEEDZ GAMBIT!)

I like X3 more than most too, friend. It's flawed but it's nowhere near as bad as people pretend it to be.
