I guess we could paint a soul patch on the Matt figure.

Man, even Shoaf gets a Funko before Boom. That's harsh.

Pearl Jam is a brand. They are much more than songs now. Just like other brands that start small with one popular item, they’ve expanded their portfolio, which was launched with the extremely popular “music”. They’ve reached into different markets with different products. The band members are just spokesmen for their products. Their concerts are just advertisements. Pearl Jam isn’t a band, it’s a company.
And you’re gonna be right there responding to Ed’s call during your next advertisement

He was an integral member of the band (arguably moreso than McCready) during what was arguably the most important few years of their career.
He's still the canonical Pearl Jam drummer, whether the band likes it or not.
He was their drummer for 1.8 albums and for like 3 years.
More important that McCready?

The band still exists. Current lineup makes sense. So does using the younger, more iconic looks. Matt is also the longest tenured drummer by a lot. I don’t get the issue.

Probably the most important and impactful three years of their career, though.
They're still running on the fumes of the band that made Ten*, Vs and Vitalogy.
The band aren't selling out Wrigley Field or Wembley off the back of Riot Act and Backspacer.
Anyway, my point is you think they'd give the guy some mild recognition from time to time when an appropriate opportunity comes up. Their hesitancy to do so seems downright bizarre.
( * Yes, I realise this was the other Dave - but the second Dave joined before it was even released, so.)

It doesn’t help that members of the band itself keep changing how they pronounce Ament.

I started wi AH-ment before I ever heard it spoken.
I’ve heard it as spoken either AY-ment, AM-ent, and uh-MENT.
Since they can’t pick one, I stick with AH-ment.
Don’t get me started on ZESS vs. ZEEZ vs. ZES-see vs. ZEE-see vs. ZEE-zee

Jeff's first record is "tone". He put that in his name on the artwork. Atonement. A"tone"ment. Ament. It's pronounced like atonement without the tone.
Simple.

In Canada we pronounce it EH-ment
On PJ Radio whenever Jeff says "Hey, this is Jeff Ament", that's how he pronounces it, so I'm assuming that's actually the correct way. Unless he's pronouncing his own name wrong.

Simple.
Except the accent is on “tone,” so we’re not getting any real clues here
Doesn't matter. Say the word without "tone." One syllable isn't stressed more dramatically than the other.
