The others are quite similar in those subjects i mentioned before.
I've seen Dogtooth, The Lobster, and The Killing of a Sacred Deer and there is absolutely a "schtick." They all feel very similar. The trailer for The Favourite looked like more of the same.
It absolutely isn't.
It probably is.
It 100% isn't.
How do you even know when you have only seen 1 other film by the director?
What I'm saying is that it is 100% not The Lobster. Obviously, I can't speak to any other film. I can know because I've seen both The Lobster and The Favourite.
That’s why you didn’t understand what i was saying
What are you talking about? What makes you think I didn't understand what you were saying?

Watched Spider-Man yesterday and wow, what a movie. There is so much in there to unpack and love...it was just great. I think it's a better movie than Infinity War, and probably one of my favorite super hero movies. It's better than Spider-Man 2.

The Stan cameo caught me off guard though. And someone took a picture of the Stan quote at the end of the movie, that was weird.

Loved the Spider-Man 2099 bit. I saw that Oscar Isaac was in the credits and was trying to remember where I heard him but then that scene opened up and it was great. It was insane how true they were to Spider-Man and all of the incarnations. I can't wait for the home video release where someone does a screen grab video of all of the different Spider-Men in the end credits. I saw Cosmic Spider-Man at one point even.

Just a great movie. I was so caught up in it that I didn't even realize that the big opening of the first trailer was missing until it happened near the end of the movie.

Damn ...alright..i was saying this guy, have 3 movies before the new one, and they all share a similar tone in framing, acting, score, even the posters.
Based on that, im not sold at all on this new film. You say this is one is radically different because you only saw the lobster...so you say, ey this guy makes so different type of movies!!! ....then i say, perhaps thats why you are not on board with my comment because you only saw one ( the lobster) and the new one.

WHAT ABOUT NOW.

I'm with you. I was responding to Jordan, though, and not necessarily to you. I've only seen two of the guy's films and they are very different films from each other. They do have things in common though. There are visual/stylistic similarities because it's the same director and he has a visual voice. But these two movies at least are not really alike at all other than the fact that they were directed by the same person.

I totally understood what you were saying and I didn't mean to make it seem like I was disagreeing with you at all. My take on this is fairly ignorant given my lack of experience with his other works. And I'm certainly not advocating that Jordan see The Favourite. I imagine he'll hate it but not because it's just like The Lobster.

Watched Robin Hood: Men in Tights and wow there's some odd choices that Mel Brooks & Co. went with in the script.
Robin Hood:
I am Robin Hood, and these are my Merry Men!

Rabbi Tuckman:
Faygeles?

Robin Hood:
No, straight. Just Merry.
Latrine : Raven's egg! Blood of a hen! A little more blood, yes! Eyeballs of a crocodile! Testicles of a newt! I bet he's a transsexual now! Robin of Loxley is handsome and brave. He seeks to regain his family's honor. Little sod could be trouble.

Loved it. Just a wild little story with excellent characters and dialogue. I imagine LV hated/would hate this movie dearly.
I bought the 4K this morning
You are squirrely. I can't pinpoint you.
I haven't watched it yet, though. Still very possible I will hate it.
Wow. Yeah. I kind of loved this movie. The Tarantino influence is there, sure - the pop music, the violence, the non-linear structure - but I don't think it's overbearing, and I think the movie carves out its own unique identity. Goddard seems far more interested in humanity and compassion than Tarantino.

I appreciate how big and bold of a stylistic swing he took here; the direction and pacing is so different than anything else out there right now.

Almost the whole cast is great (Chris Hemsworth is the only performance I don't believe), but Jeff Bridges and Dakota Johnson are particularly amazing. This is my favorite Bridges performance in years, and Johnson is genuinely scary (which is wildly different than any other role she's played).

I think I'll return to this in coming years.

Mid 90s.

I appreciate the effort, and im sure Jonah Hill will make better films in the future. This one looks nice, i love the 4:3 and the 90s art and specially all the skateboard 90s references as well as the soundtrack.
Hell it even made me remember old stories about those days, but overall what it has to say is really not a big deal. Its a pretty bland and mainstream version of Kids.
