For some reason I remember that the Sonics and bulls had a Kemp/Pippen trade worked out but not that in 98 Pippen told the media during the season he'd never play for the Bulls again. Wonder what I was up to that I didn't know that was happening?

My memories from early '97-'98 season was that everybody knew this everybody's last season and that MJ missed a dunk in the preseason. But I was mostly focused on my '97 Marlins championship run and immediately depressing fire sale.

Poor guy. What i didnt get is why he didnt talked about a new contract before.

Also - The Last Dance warrants its own thread but whatever. Funny to look back at how the basketball world was so enamored with the 7-footer and that style is now all but gone. Also if you give me a team of five Scott Pippens I like my chances against a team of five Mike Jordans.

Poor guy. What i didnt get is why he didnt talked about a new contract before.

In the doc, the owner, Reinsdorf, explained that when they signed Pippen, he wanted a shorter deal so they'd be able to adjust accordingly a few years down the line. Pippin insisted on a longer deal so he could guarantee he'd be able to take care of his family and Reinsdorf told him if he agreed to the longer deal, there absolutely would be NO renegotiation before the contract was up. I'm sure Pippen felt there was no point in asking for a new contract since the terms we so absolute.

I just don't get Krause's animosity towards Phil Jackson.
