That’s actually not a bad question and I did consider that. It belongs in Sports.

Jordan just wanted another ring. By all accounts the rest of the team was cool with what Scottie did. Jordan was blinded by winning.
yeah, i get that. But still..i mean the guy was being paid so much less than anyone else. It was stupid.
To this day the Bulls organization carries this reputation. Players know it. It's why they've never signed a major free agent unless you count Ben Wallace or Carlos Boozer types.
I remember hearing Pippin saying he wanted to be traded, but I didn't know what led to it at all.
Poor guy. What i didnt get is why he didnt talked about a new contract before.
In the doc, the owner, Reinsdorf, explained that when they signed Pippen, he wanted a shorter deal so they'd be able to adjust accordingly a few years down the line. Pippin insisted on a longer deal so he could guarantee he'd be able to take care of his family and Reinsdorf told him if he agreed to the longer deal, there absolutely would be NO renegotiation before the contract was up. I'm sure Pippen felt there was no point in asking for a new contract since the terms we so absolute.
I think it tells you how docile Pippen was too...i mean the guy was killing it, and he felt he couldnt renegociate his contract?

I bet Reinsdorf is thinking this doc coming out while basketball is down is great for the Bulls. The real ones know Jerry: the Bulls are a trash org.

There is no one like Jordan and I love reliving the memories. I just finished reading "The Life" so I knew about most of the issues with the Jerry's, but seeing it on film is even more upsetting. What a f*%k head Jerry Krause was.
What is this book you mention?
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/184 ... ael-jordan by Roland Lazenby. It's the only book I've read on Jordan's life, but it's really well done. Lazenby definitely interviewed all the right people and did his research to make this book. It goes all the way back to Jordan's deep roots in North Carolina.

Thanks for giving this it's own thread Ruddo!

I get where both of them are coming from. It's cool that Phil came from an understanding place about it. Jordan's take really fits into his mentality that you always play your hardest and you always play to win. I loved in the doc that little line from Jordan about "looking forward" to the challenge without Pippen.

Spike is right. Scottie couldn't even play through a migraine when it counted. Jordan beat flu, broken foot, the mafia, the Jordan rules ect.

5 Jordans would fight over who takes the final shot. Hell, every shot.

5 Pippens make the smart play every time, pass to the right guy for the best shot every time.

I remember all those iconic Pippen game winners. Hell, even with Jordan playing baseball, Phil called Toni Kukocs number instead of Scotties against the Knicks.

Jordan was a better defender than Pippen was a primary scorer.

They were so different there is no case on putting them to compete. I do think Jordan could have play any place.

So, yes, TEAM JORDAN.
