You seem awfully generous with your ratings

I am, but I genuinely love found footage movies :)

there's a lot I don't like, I didn't choose those for October or I'd never finish

Probably a good call because I'm having a bum streak right now, which is especially a bummer in October. Need to get to some time-tested rewatches to get out of this funk.

and if you end a rewatch saying "fuck yeah", give it a 10

I'm very stingy with perfect ratings. I only have 16 5s at the moment.

wow I've been sitting on this opinion for years, undecided, but I think the V/H/S franchise mostly sucks

still on my October found footage bullshit

I will record more of my movies and ratings soon, but I just had to run in to say how much I always loved "Troll Hunter" (2010), what an absolutely hilarious and atmospheric treasure of a movie

Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein" is magnificent, pure cinema, I could have watched another hour of it

I'm glad you dug it! :bammer:

The thing was a bit uneven for me, but that's no surprise given my relationship with del Toro. Overall, I enjoyed it but it did leave me a little cold and wanting at times. But the images are GORGEOUS and Oscar Isaac can marry me already!

GDT hasn't made a good movie in like 15 years but I'll probably give this a shot against my better judgment

for context, I haven't loved a GDT film since Pan's Labyrinth; I've read and watched several reviews of this -- I like to see a range of feelings on a film before going in -- and I'm aware of a few points of critique people have given; I saw them in the movie itself, but either didn't agree or didn't care

this is one of those films -- like Pan's Labyrinth or even Eggers' Nosferatu -- that feels like it was made for me

I find this intriguing...

reading around a film is as much part of the experience of consuming a film for me, it doesn't spoil anything
