When are the nominations for Father/Husband of the Year due in?I guarantee you are not sitting there holding your wife’s hand. . . . I had three kids. . . I was at the birth and was back to work the next day. I didn’t see any reason not to be working. Harrison (Francesa’s son) was born at nine in the morning. I worked that day. What was I gonna do, sit with my wife in the hospital?
Also, it's the Mets.CopperTom wrote:Murphy wasn't going to play all 162 games anyway. We're talking about 1.23% of the season. Plus, it's April baseball, not September playoff race baseball. Give him a break.

that sounds about right
At least him and his wife TRIED to have the kid come out before the season started... (kid just wanted to be an opening day baby) Its far better than the ones who are in the playoffs with "his wife is about to go into labor at any moment" lolphilpritchard wrote:Also, it's the Mets.CopperTom wrote:Murphy wasn't going to play all 162 games anyway. It didn't seem to be a problem during Cactus League. Frankly, it's getting annoying. Really, your thumb? Hit the ball.MadTIGERmaN wrote:At least him and his wife TRIED to have the kid come out before the season started... and it beats John Axford pitching so bad he put his wife into labor (his note to the media is still a good read)

I really dont know what to make of this? did he really do nothing during his whole break? didnt pick up a bat at all so he thought it healed? why wouldnt you test it to make sure its healing? you take hundreds more swings in spring, but NOW it bothers you? I dont want to say it, but it really comes across as a cry baby excuse.Harry Lime wrote:And if he's considering surgery on it, he should probably do it soon so we can get him back by All-Star break or sooner.
It's not a cry baby excuse. People forget that he put up MVP caliber numbers in the 2012 season and that was with the MLB putting a microscope over him. The thumb didn't start bothering him until 2013, and he still hit 14 homers. I just read that it was bothering him in the Cactus League this Spring, but he hit a couple homers there as well. What I'm saying is, PEDs are not what makes the man great, so let's get that out of the way.MadTIGERmaN wrote:I really dont know what to make of this? did he really do nothing during his whole break? didnt pick up a bat at all so he thought it healed? why wouldnt you test it to make sure its healing? you take hundreds more swings in spring, but NOW it bothers you? Hes starting to get a history of letting little nagging injuries get in his head / miss games though.Harry Lime wrote:It's not a cry baby excuse. I also just read that he looked into surgery, but he heard no guarantees of an improvement. He said he'll just deal with it. We'll see. I just want him to get on base.
We're also four games into the season. Let's cool our jets.MadTIGERmaN wrote:Hes starting to get a history of letting little nagging injuries get in his head / miss games though.Harry Lime wrote:It's not a cry baby excuse. the hit by pitch against the Pirates that made him miss 2 games, the "stiff neck" that knocked him out of a few games only to have that big pinch hit home run against the Marlins. He makes these "little" injuries sound like they could send him to the disable list for a month, but if i sit out a game ill be good to go. If youre only sitting out a game? Its probably not a major injury, and guys like, oh, Prince? or Yount, would have been out there, AND theyd have never disclosed that theyre even playing hurt. Going 0-5 and saying "its my thumb" is not going to win over any fan support after last year. Thats all Im saying.
thats the problem, WERE 4 GAMES IN RYAN! its okay to have an 0-5 lol no one expected you to come out and go a Bonnafacio 11-16! but no, Ryan goes 0-5 and its "oh my thumb still hurts guys" LOLHarry Lime wrote:We're also four games into the season.
