yeah, it's a good one. I still enjoy the Ed solo version they gave away as part of that scavenger hunt before the album came out.

it was absolutely not an album to release and then have a four year gap

it's easier to see now how those 4 years would have soured a lot of people on the album

Yeah and we already had a 4 year gap with avocado so it was too much yes.

At least they should have released the EP

I like this album 100% more than I did 10 years ago.

its a Backspacer morning. Im just a few songs in but I wonder if this is my favorite Matt record.

also I can hear a lot if what trag doent like about DM in contrast to how Backspacer feels (I thibk)

i forgot how loud just breathe is. I tend to only hear it on a full backspacer listen

ive got amongst the waves -> unthought known as the sun starts to rise. that’s nice

these are both total pearl jam comfort food songs

sunrises take awhile, it seems. supersonic spoiled the mood somewhat

i used to like UK, specially when the album came out. I also got it live in the 2009 tour. With time it transformed into a song i cant stand. Not sure why, but i hear the mute palm guitar thing and i already hate it.

Inverse situation with Atw...when it came out, i didnt liked it, i was expecting something heavier based on early reports about a soaring epic song or something....and it felt flat. But with time, i got to hear the groove of the songs and now i really like it.

Wish the guitar tones were more interesting though.

yeah, he is good but nowhere near Binaural, RA or ST.

I like that ATW grew on you based on groove; it's what I keep saying, there's an almost island / reggae feel to the drumming that fits neatly with the subject matter, it's a fave of mine; I don't think it was "trying to be Alive"; I think listeners wanted it to be and were disappointed that it wasn't

UK, I really like too; at first it was the piano I hated, I just thought it would be a million times better without the plinky plonky; I don't feel that anymore though, especially since it's turned out that elements like that are pretty unique to Backspacer (and Lightning Bolt, but treated with so much more subtlety and care here)

I prefer UK to Lightning Bolt, i can say that. LB was supposed to be a better, more arena oriented song and the studio version is a very pale boring version of that with a fucking fade out at the end.

I love what Jeff is doing in ATW.

i mean live? maybe...is still a very boring song to me...but the studio version better than ATW? no way
