The Rattle & Hum ep is pure bliss. It's fucking PEAK U Talkin U2 to Me?! Lance is always awesome, even when fucking Scott cuts him off all the time with unnecessary jokes.
This is also the first ep where Jerk Aukerman makes a full appearance. I think he likes to take down Adam in front of guests. Adam is in good humor the entire time and none of it is especially mean and almost all of it is successful. I can see why Scott liked this shtick enough to REALLY lean into in the REM eps (given Adam's unfaltering adoration and love for REM).
The exchange about the Turtles record store had me on the ground I was laughing so hard. "Oh, so it's green." "Yeah, green and yellow." I couldn't breathe.
I'm also totes team Adam as far as the R&H takes go.
Also, also, Lance Bangs should have his own pod. I could listen to that guys thoughts and stories for days.

Just wait until the following ep. He's passed by the time they record it. It's amazing.

The first time I noticed Scott being a bit bullying was in the Lance Bangs episode of R U Talkin' R.E.M., funnily enough. I think you're right. He has one of those personalities where he needs to be the dominating voice of the group. Or at least it seems like that. He kind of reminds me of a guy I knew in high school, in that way.

I love this joke from Harris, but what really makes it is Annie Clark's reaction.

Oh yeah. I really do think a lot of it is based in his style of humor. But I think he has some inferiority and big brother complexes as well.

If you think it's bad on the U2/REM pods, you should listen to his appearances on his wife's old show (Who Charted). I'm an Aukerman fan but that aspect of his personality can be very obnoxious.

The New Adventures episode was great, by the way. Don't have a ton to say about it, but Scott's retracking was very bad and I loved how offended Adam was by it ("This is a DISASTER").
Then again, I can't give him too much shit. It took me a while to really love that album, and I think he only had it for like a week?
I also love that they continue to play that "How Does it Feel?" song and think it's just the funniest thing ever. I had it stuck in my head this morning.

Removing So Fast, So Numb is in and of itself utterly stupid. But then adding Tricycle??! Unforgivable. Adam was right to be offended.

Hi-Fi was the first REM album to grab me and pull me in. It's been my favorite record of theirs since I first heard it and it only gets better and better. I goddamn love that record and can't imagine changing anything about it.

I just looked at the ep list and I see that there's an ep dedicated to Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark! I think I might have to skip ahead and listen to that next.

I might have to check out this pod.
Though I don’t think I’ll find it funny at all.

Yeah, it's definitely in my top 3 now. But I remember at first not really getting it. I think part of it was just the muddiness of the recordings -- which incidentally is what I remember Scott bringing up a lot, that the mixes weren't great.
Of course, I love that aspect of it now. But it was definitely something that took a while to grow on me. Fables was kind of the same way.

I just use Overcast on my phone (it's free). Not sure where to find it otherwise. Sorry, man.
