They won that competition. They did however overhaul their ground roots football approach after a bad 2000 campaign.

And Panama should not have won their match. Their first goal didn't cross the line. They should have had a draw which would have put US in 4th position and playing off with Australia.

any plan that involves diverting some % of black youth away from basketball or football toward soccer i would consider the successful approach
