Matt do you know if there is any leftovers from DOTU?
There should be a decent amount of demos and alternate takes. But it's hard to say - they actually recorded the album on the fly without doing much pre-production, and they weren't communicating well. Who knows.
Matt, do you have the Before The Doors vinyl that came out with I5?

Did it not say there was a CD in the superdeluxe reissue? That's what I'm bummed about - I want that more than anything.

I have the CD but not the vinyl. Last time I checked the record stores here in Portland there were several copies of the vinyl so I don't feel very bad about not getting it yet. I will someday.

Well, yeah. Chris sounds terrible but it somehow works; his whiskey-soaked, tobacco-addled vocal cords add a different dimension to the songs, and I love the set. Great track selection, too.

There's no Motorvision CD as such but the full show included in the box is the second of the two nights that were filmed for it, I think.

I thought that KD's boxset contents were made up as part of the gag but I've just read the actual deluxe box details. HE WASN'T EVEN KIDDING

I've now updated the BMF Wiki page for referencing purposes.
It's not clear whether it's night 1 or night 2 on the Paramount cds and dvd, or is it a combination of both nights?
I think we can assume that the Paramount cds and dvd are the exact same as each other, audio wise?
Is it also safe to assume that the 8 songs on the Motorvision dvd are also on the Paramount cds and dvd? Maybe if the people preparing this boxset (Kim?) were very particular, they might have actually taken the alternate night versions of the 8 songs that were on Motorvision and put them on the Paramount discs.
(I'm at work at the moment, so can't double-check Matt's site for more info on those Seattle dates).

Chris's affirmative "thumbs up" is my favorite part of that picture.
Also, this thread reminded me to finally order a copy of "Screaming Life/Fopp" -- the last original SG release absent from my collection.

Yeah, i need that too.
DO IT.
When I mentioned that
Badmotorfinger is my least favorite Soundgarden album, I meant it; the band's metal phase, while deeply satisfying to me, doesn't get me the way the later, mellower stuff does, and the way the earlier blues/punk stuff does. Objectively speaking I should like BMF better, but I absolutely love the early years of Soundgarden and I don't feel like it gets the praise it deserves.
Which is a roundabout way of saying that
Screaming Life is probably my #3 Soundgarden record, after
Superunknown and
Down on the Upside.

Im not sure how i feel about the early days. I mean, i love them but im still really really crazy about SU-DOTU-KA.
Badmotorfinger is a masterpiece for me, and yes, i do believe the metal approach disminish its greatness.
What about Louder Than Love and Ultramega Ok?

Ultramega Ok has always been my least favorite. Good songs but a super tame recording. Songs are so much better live.

I'm a huge Ultramega OK fan but it needs a remaster. Just a terrible mix overall. One thing people don't realize about the album is that most of the songs pre-date Screaming Life; when they went to record Screaming Life they recorded their newest songs, and the stuff they'd been doing for awhile ended up on Ultramega OK.
If you want an idea of what early Soundgarden was like, listen to any show from the Hiro era (which pretty much means any of the 1988-early 1989 shows unfortunately). Such a great, great, great band.

Man as much as i am a big big fan of Ben, in fact i consider him to be one of the greatest from the 90s, Hiro was amazing as well. SG sounded like a obscure mix between a stoner punk band and something along the line of Fugazi with him.
I also love his with Truly.
