put another way, these statements aren't saying anything at all.
well FINE, BE like that!!
can i let you in on a little secret?
Spoiler: show
i like backspacer!
Same. I also think that songs like Who Ever Said have more of that album in them than we have yet acknowledged.

I like it!

I gotta admit, I'm hearing shades of Riot Act all over this thing (my personal favorite PJ album). What a difference the production makes.

I really like the sequencing on this.

it is very tight - it works through a process with more deliberate thought than you get on almost any other PJ album

Well. Here I sit. Finally listening to this thing. Went through it 4 times. I thought about what I could say, but realized everything I'm feeling has probably been written over and over, and probably written far better than I can.

I'm thankful I waited the whole way. After reading every single page from you guys, I felt kinda like an old friend was coming to visit when I finally put this thing on. It's like I felt a connection on first listen. I'm in awe, not just because of the strength of this record, but how easily I digested it. It's excellent. Even the weaker songs are songs I can find enjoyment in. I feel the same contentment now that I used to feel what seems so long ago from one of their records.

I needed to feel something. With everything going on right now, and I have a business that's being severely impacted, I lost something inside at the moment, got desensitized. This........this has made me feel something....something wonderful, and I'm very thankful.....to the band, to music and to you guys.

:peace:

"In the midst of the sixth" = reference to the Holocene extinction, right?

As do I. However, I'm wondering if the seven year wait was largely due to the band arguing about River Cross working as a slow burn opener or a closer.

I agree completely. It puts me in a good head space. It feels like a really evocative blend of light and dark moods. What's more, the opener to this album sets the table in the best possible way--I was grinning from ear to ear.

EDIT: I have long complained about not having an emotional connection to recent PJ albums--maybe that streak has ended.

It is really starting to bother me how thin they sound on the low-end, which is a shame because I really like both songs.
there is some bass presence in ND, but absolutely none on TTLW, it's baffling

Congrats on holding out and getting this moment. Hope things can get better for you.

I too feel like this experience wouldn't have been the same without RM. Thank you for keeping the lights on, squad. This place is a real gem.

I'm astounded my CD arrived in the current situation, but it has. Time for another listen.

I wish it was the closer. I am just not getting into River Cross yet. I love the Ed/organ only version and wish they would have stuck with that. Don't love what the band did with it—less plucky bass and drums and more guitar is what I'd prefer.

Once people realize Retrograde while earnest isn't really any cornier than something like Dissident or Wishlist they'll come around on it.
