Where's mark wahlberg when you really need him? There has to be a PSA in which he can star?

"I once nearly beat a Chinaman to death because I thought it was funny. But you know what's not funny? Racism."

He came in spikes up, it was intentional whether Pedroia is trying to be Mother Theresa or not.

Good on Sale and the crowd last night, though, when Jones came up to bat.

Well, there was no warning yesterday and Sale's looking at a suspension, so that seems to be setting precedent.

let's be honest, unless you're talking at least 7-8 games, suspensions for starting pitchers are more ceremonious than anything. you can just appeal, wait for an off-day, push the other starters back a day, and then drop the appeal and not miss any games.

Yeah, but they miss a lot of salary.

Interesting article on the weird player Xander is becoming. Not addressed by author: he's led off some games this year, so wouldn't that be at least a partial explanation for his hitting for singles instead of power?

He's actually hit for more "power" (two of his three extra base hits) out of the lead off spot than elsewhere.

Power tends to be streaky for everyone. He'll probably hit a couple homeruns in the next week and suddenly his numbers will look normal again.

Could be the way he's being pitched, too. The other night Eck was talking about how righties throw him tons of sliders, and how he's going with it. A few pitches later, he doinks an RBI single over the 2B's head.

Xander could totally hit more home runs if he wanted to.

I think he needs to adjust as pitchers now have a good look at him over many at-bats. He can do it. Every all-star caliber player has to at some point to some degree.

Got excited about the NESN Go app when they talked about it on the air tonight, even downloaded it on my iPad--the idea of throwing the game on outside by the fire pit was great. FIOS isn't supported as a service provider yet, though, which is garbage.

They've bungled this worse than the Farrell-Lovullo situation.
