Also, when it goes to the toms it's ridiculously simple. It's not bad but I know Matt is capable of complex tom work, he just chooses not to do it too often. Imagine something like Jack's 'In My Tree' tom work in this song.

Yeah, but you're a drummer right?

I kid, I kid!

Aye, Matt is definitely a guitarist's drummer.

I could definitely go for more of that here.

I really like this song.

It's a highlight for me live, and probably will be for quite some time.

But, I have a hard time listening to the album cut.

Too much tambourine. And shakers. And general sound muckiness.

And screw that fade out.

I think any song that my daughter can sing along to has got to be a good song! ;-)

I'm still very fond of this song.

I know, I'm surprised too.

Hate the fade out!!!! When I heard in judd apatow interview where Ed stated none of the band new what the finished album actually sounded like. First thing in sure they would change would be Lightning Bolts fade out.

First song off the album I would re-record.

At what stage? He just handed them a finished album they hadn't heard? Well that explains a lot.

Agreed. From memory it's in the group interview part. Ed stated it was a positive not one member had anymore notion as the next ??

It's your art people!!!

This is a great band song. I think each member has some space to play and they are all locked into their parts and they are all playing their own parts but they are playing together. So I'm not surprised they seem to like playing this one in concert, hopefully it stays put.

Agreed. I think this will be the most consistently played song from this album in future tours.

Hey guys... does anyone remember a while back when there was info on the recording sessions site that Pearl Jam had recorded a track called "Lightning Crashes"? Or is this another of my waking dreams?

Not a whole lot happening at radio so far. Just a trickle of adds.

I can see why Pearl Jam fans like this song, but I just don't see it being something that encourages other people to check out the album.
