Haha wtf dude? How is he right? Oh, sorry the Russians are exhausted after invading another country. Yeah, totally, Ukraine should give up land and we should all just be happy it stopped. Don't you think that is a little obtuse?

I would ask you back, is there any point at which UKR does give up occupied territory?

We have to fund Ukraine forever because they are in the right and America is responsible for the well being everyone on earth. We're bad people if we don't spend all our money taking care of everyone and fight the bad guys all over the planet. If we don't, we're Russian. If we aren't the world police to keep all these barbarians acting right, then they are doomed! It's our special burden.

What's the score on this thing anyway? I don't think there's any way for us commoners to really know. Some people and propaganda outlets say Ukraine will fall any day, others say the Russians are dying in the billions every second. Meanwhile it seems the maps haven't changed much. It will be interesting to see who is right in the end.

While this is dripping with classic Burt facetiousness, even if we back off, we are also basically telling the Russians this is ok. Are you ok with that? I didn't take you for a commie, Burt. Also, if we back off and Russia movies further in to eastern europe, you still ok with not being the world police? Where is the line where you say "ok, maybe we should stop them before it gets too far out of control"?

I bet you supported going in to Iraq because of WMD, didn't you?

I think if this war has taught me anything, it's that - win or lose - the Russian military is a joke with no hope of rolling into Europe. They've been exposed as a paper tiger, and their nosediving demographics aren't going to let them improve. I'd be more worried about china rolling into eastern Russia. I doubt Russia could do much to stop them.

I'm not ok with empires invading other countries, but at the same time, that doesn't mean we are responsible for stopping every aggressive invader on earth. If Europe is so worried about it, they can move some of their tax money over from their generous welfare programs (subsidized by the US military) and start spending on defense.

And I was kind of on the fence before the Iraq war. Finding out it was bullshit was wake up call. Were you for it?

Hundreds of thousands have been killed, millions driven from their homes, but poor America.

Even most of your funds allocated for Ukraine, stay in the US, with US factories.

The great Russian menace at your doorstep, and Europe can only devote a fraction of a percent of their GDP to stopping them?

If they're not gonna take it seriously, I don't know why we should

Norway gdp 485.5 billion USD (2023)
USA gdp 27.36 trillion USD (2023)

Our funds go directly to Ukraine, the majority of yours stay in the US, never to be seen in Ukraine.

The unspoken as ever, for all the wars in in Middle East the US is either directly involved in or indirectly, it’s Europe carries the burden and is left with the tens of millions of refugees fleeing the situation. Don’t know the numbers but that seriously spiked after Afghanistan being abandoned by the US and Syria too but not to the same degree, so far.
The British at least get some comeuppance for supporting and participating in those wars, with something like a million refugees arriving in small boats etc in the last year or so.
Uncle Sam would freak the fuck out of it had to directly deal with the human flood it’s created in the Middle East arriving on its doorstep.
