If this thread is a precursor to the larger album thread, just gonna avoid the entire forum when it’s released

Now trag is claiming drum samples are being used?
Dude has the most narrow minded Albini view of music production and it’s clouding his better judgement.

this x 1000%
I grew up exchanging cassette tapes and mixes of shitty recordings of punk, rock, metal, funk bands all throughout middle school. You ever listen to a tape that had 10 different albums recorded on it? Even when those crappy tapes started to get all warbly and hissy, that didn't detract from my ability to determine which bands I really connected with. As someone that now writes and records and mixes music as a hobby, I find most of this hand wringing tiresome. You either like a song or you don't... and if you don't, then why obsess over production minutiae?

Hey, great news, everyone: according to every account from people at the listening party this song isn’t even a highlight on the album.

Totally.
The focus on production isn’t the focusedness that people need to be focused on.
Big no-no.

Well, of course... I believe there's a college course on this subject - "Pearl Jam single selection mismanagement 101"

sure, I'd rather listen to a good song with bad production than the other way around. Production is still VERY important to me, though and annoying production can lessen my enjoyment a lot.
I think it's interesting to read about why trag dislikes the production on this. Talking about why someone does not enjoy this song is okay! This does not have to lessen anyones enjoyment of this song! This is all okay and good! You don't have to care about production!

Disagreement is not accepted by the Jamily.

Can we please have a new thread for technical production/mix stuff, so that the album and song threads can, you know, be ABOUT THE MUSIC?
