But I only saw the Ashes video due the first time like two years ago.

My dad's favorite album was Ziggy Stardust and he had several others, so no. But "Let's Dance" was most definitely the first time I saw him on MTV, because it had just become a regular cable channel and we were finally able to get it. I didn't see or even hear "Ashes To Ashes" until around 1990 when his back catalog was overhauled by Rykodisc.
I also knew exactly what was going on when I saw the first Nirvana "Unplugged" broadcast, because I had been hearing the Man Who Sold The World album since I was able to walk, and I leaped right out of my chair in excitement. I would imagine that 99% of the people who watched that had no idea WTF they were even playing.

David Bowie with SRV guitar solos thrown in?? Absolutely top shelf.
My brother kick started my love for music generally by making me a David Bowie mix tape in about 1980 or so. That was a fucking magic C90 Maxwell tape that was. When Let's Dance came around in 83 or whenever I almost thought he'd made the album especially for me.
Absolutely top shelf stuff.

As far as Critics, it seems they liked Let's Dance but did not rate it as highly as his 1970's work. Bowie's 70's are maybe the only thing to rival Neil's 70's in any 10 year stretch.
At least until we hear Ed Vedder's next album.

My unpopular musical opinion is that people shouldn't limit themselves to listening to music if their religion does not allow them to.

I’d much rather listen to Donovan than Bob Dylan.

Which religion allows people to limit themselves to music?
