Re: Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
The cool thing about this and I’m sure it’s going to annoy all the usual piss babies but if what Ewan says is true, we effectively have obi wan mirroring Luke in the last Jedi.
That I guess will be interesting to watch play out.

Serious question, when does he find out Vader survived? Is that in the comics? Is he gonna find out in this series?Anders wrote:Only 20+ years (ten years after this series), the rest of his life.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

We haven’t ever learned that.
Theory is we’ll see him find out in this series.
Personally I’d be up for Ahsoka turning up to tell him. She’s fought him at this stage I think
It’ll be in this series for sure. Why else even have Vader never mind Hayden come back for it?
‘More machine now than man’ is gonna come into it big time. How did he know that? If he and Vader kick the shit out of each in a lightsaber battle is how.
I can’t wait to see this show

Why or how would he? You could say the force but that’s not how the force works:)
He only finds out luke is his son after getting boba fett to do a mission on it.
That was in the comics. And it’s awesome when he finds out.

Re: Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Fantastic interview with Ewan and Hayden
It wasn't Obi-Wan they were there to see. "And then Vader comes around the corner, into the street, and I was like, 'Ah, f---. Of course!'"
"Obi-Wan is lost," says McGregor. "He's a broken man after what happened with the Jedi order at the end of Episode III, but also what happened with Anakin; that he lost him to the dark side. He feels an enormous amount of responsibility for that, and guilt."

He doesn’t say that until Jedi, tho. After Vader took him out and after Luke fought him for the first time. He may not know that at all until the first movie.dimejinky99 wrote:B wrote:Serious question, when does he find out Vader survived? Is that in the comics? No, ding-dong, I'm talking about their fight on Mustafar in RotS.B wrote:Kenobi didn't have very long to stew about his failure to destroy Vader.epilogue wrote:It's a double-edged pain, too. Because for Kenobi... he failed to save Anakin AND he failed to destroy Vader! That's gotta fuck with a dude's head, big time.

He's lost to Vader so very many times. You can understand my confusion. I know. That’s dealing with it in real world / release order terms though.
Obi wan drip feeds Luke info about Vader.
One of the most important lines in the entire saga is Yoda to Luke when he asks him if Vader is his father
‘Not ready for the burden. were you’
They couldn’t just tell him outright. And the machine/man plays importantly into Luke saving Vader and redeeming him. Their meeting in the passage on endor and they take Luke away, and just with a turn to the camera and a moment of contemplation, that’s the moment. That’s the crack in the darkness. He found anakin and broke through the darkness of Vader to get there.
I’m tangentarama here but the machine /man thing is important and will be in this series

Re: Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Okay, WILD SPECULATION time....
Forgive me, I know most of you don't care about this stuff, so please feel free to skip this post. A friendly reminder that you don't HAVE to comment.
But also please feel free to comment if you want to talk about this.
SO... from the trailer, it looks like the Inquisitors come to Tatooine. It's possible they are there to find Kenobi, sure. Makes sense. But the fact that Kenobi later in canon returns to Tatooine to keep watch on Luke makes me wonder if maybe the Inquisitors don't know that Kenobi is there at all.
If that's true, why are the Inquisitors on Tatooine. Logic suggests that they are there hunting someone else. Who are they hunting?
There are Obi-Wan interlude in the Ahsoka novel. This interlude is the only part of the novel that doesn't directly connect to Ahsoka and her adventure specifically. Is this maybe evidence to suggest that Ahsoka is in the show? Is Ahsoka looking for Obi-Wan?
If not Ahsoka, who? There could be a dozen options. A new Jedi we don't know already, perhaps? I just think it's an interesting idea that the Inquisitors are on Tatooine not because of Obi-Wan, but for another reason.
We'll find out soon enough but that kind of the thing would help explain why Obi-Wan -- after leaving the planet -- ends up returning to keep watch on Luke. Further, it would explain why no one ever comes looking for Obi-Wan again after the events of this series. If the Empire/Vader/etc knows that Obi-Wan had been on Tatooine, then surely they'd come back looking for him again, right?

Re: Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Okay, another thing...
This is weird and I feel like SUPER unlikely. But this show takes place one year after the events of Solo.
There's a shot in the trailer that suggests a Wookie. And later there's a shot that looks like Han's blaster.
Are we... are we getting Han and Chewie in this thing?
I feel like, no, right?

If so, they just lost me. There’s NOTHING in the first movie that suggests anything other than them meeting for the first time there.epilogue wrote:Okay, another thing...

Re: Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
I don't think Obi-Wan and Han would meet -- they don't have to share any scenes togetehr. Because you're right. I don't think it is gonna happen, to be clear. But it is interesting.wease wrote:If so, they just lost me. In terms of returning characters I think Qui-Gon (almost a guarantee?), Yoda, Jabba, Tarkin, Maul and even Ahsoka are far more likely than Han and Chewie.

I hope they tell us a goos story and not one filled with recurring characters we dont need to see. And please do not make this a getaway to another series or mando season 3 in any way

Re: Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
The timeline won't allow this to be a lead-in or gateway to Mando S3.VinylGuy wrote:I hope they tell us a goos story and not one filled with recurring characters we dont need to see. And please do not make this a getaway to another series or mando season 3 in any way
Recurring characters are fine if the story dictates. No one's upset that Vader is in this, for example.
