Are you suggesting the NBA should have rigged the lottery in favor of Eastern Conference teams?

I’m suggesting retraction is a much better idea for both the NBA and NHL.

There isn’t enough talent, there aren’t enough coaches and there certainly aren’t enough GMs.

You cannot build a team if you are not in the right market or you don’t win the lottery in the right year. Period. Your best hope is the middle of the bracket and losing in the 2nd round.

Most of the league sucks ass. The Knicks that ESPN talks about as if they mattered, haven’t been a watchable franchise in 25 years. NYC is not the Mecca of basketball.

Young NBA teams are horrible. There are like 3 teams in the east. It’s a pandemic of terrible pro basketball over here.

It doesn’t really matter because NBA fans aren’t fans of teams really. But the league would be a lot better if they had about 20 teams.

Interesting. I feel like there is a ton of talent in the league right now, it's just distributed unevenly. The East has 7 talented teams and your Hawks have a franchise (offensive at least) player and the Wizards have at least one star. Almost every team in the West is either good right now or has legit young talent that looks very promising.
I think the terrible basketball you're talking about is more a result of stylistic and strategic changes taking the league over than a lack of talent. Young teams (and teams w/o much talent) are trying to play like the Warriors and Rockets and when you can't actually shoot it's almost unwatchable. Idk.

Yeah, I'd argue the talent pool is better than it ever has been. These guys are incredibly skilled.

Bold prediction: Warriors keep their pick because they don't like any of the trade offers. They do use their trade exception from the Iggy trade to pick up a role player or two.

So Trae is good, but they didn’t make the tournament because John Collins decided to take performance enhancing drugs and they look pretty stupid with what Doncic is doing.

Is there hope of him staying here past one contract or Zion or Giannis, I’d say no. Everyone is well paid now so Bird rights matter far less than marketing and the Knicks are completely dead until/unless the change ownership.

Atlanta would be far better served as a market by hosting actually good/interesting franchises Rather than 10 year cycles of terrible, average, playoffs, decline, terrible.

If you can reasonably accurately predict the playoffs prior to the season there’s no point in playing the season, it’s all based on injury.

This tournament has been great, if you’re in it.

It will likely be February before we start back.

Gotta be Wiseman, right?

I certainly don't want a perimeter player who can't shoot or play defense like Edwards or Ball.

I see that nobody disagrees with my assessment of D. Wade.

Wade is probably properly rated.

Overrated is always tough to argue. I can see an argument for Wade being overrated, but I think most people have him as tier 3 or 4 all-time player which feels about right. 3rd/4th best SG. Harden will probably/definitely pass him before long. Idk.

I'd probably choose Harden over Wade because of the longevity, but yeah, it's close.

I'm super biased both for Wade and anti-Harden, but if Harden isn't already ahead of him he inevitably will be. I don't like it but I know it's true.

I've had this idea before and March-July would have been a perfect time for it, but maybe we could do a draft this offseason...something where we draft a team that we'll have for a specific time frame like 3 seasons and try to have to highest total PER or WAR or something like that.

I'd still have Wade ahead of Harden and maybe a few others. Harden really only plays one end of the court. He is improving a little bit but its still hard to have someone top three who can't play defense. Also like Steph he's very much a product of the new rules and that works great in the regular season but as the playoffs progress and the refs start to swallow their whistles it's not a surprise they falter. The hardest thing with an all time 2G lists is some of the old great white guys from the 70's whose position is ambiguous. Is Jerry West a PG or a 2G. What about Pistol Pete and Rick Berry or John Havlicek who didn't really have a position. Then you got George Gervin who put up Harden like numbers himself or the all time under appreciated Mitch Richmond. I always get bitter when all time 2G discussions start cause of Len Bias. Between him and Reggie Lewis the Celtics gave the 90s away.
