I listened
The universe presented itself, i put in my airpods, and I jogged by restricted beach in the rain in near isolation
Overall: Good album
High-level Notes
The Good:
- First 4 tracks make the album. Indeed quite a run
- Quick Escape is amazing. Best song since Nothing As It Seems. And right after DOTC, it's a feast for the ears
- Take The Long Way: clearly off the SG cutting room floor, which we are happy to accept. This live with louder bass and a little rawer guitar sound could be really great.
- River Cross: Glad it made it on the album. Nothing will ever touch that first live Ed solo version leading into 'I'm So Tired' . But glad this is here. On the right night, could be a great song live.
The Not as Great:
- Back half of the album kinda slow
- Ed never alters his singing style much. There is too much word salad. By like the 4th punker, it's like 'OK you need to switch this up'
- Spoiler: show
- NOW BRING ON DISC 2 I'M STARVING

Just listened to Gigaton for the first time in full today. Definitely an album I need to sit with for a while.
I will say it's not as easily digestible as the last two were.

I have heard it a bunch of times between the leak and the stream and can’t wait for this to come in the mail so I can hear it properly. I am really enjoying it thus far. Never Destination is becoming more enjoyable for me with each listen, as is Retrograde. Nothing has yet made me want to skip or jump away. The improvement for me from the leak to the stream was Buckle Up, which the swirling riff seems to come across more dreamlike than it seeming more poppy on the leak.

I just wish so desperately that I could put on some headphones and go for a long walk with this album.

Yeah but there's too many people around still. I get tense every time I step outside. I wouldn't be able to just stroll and listen the record. I'd be constantly dodging people and screaming for people to stay 6 feet away.
Maybe if I'm able to drive upstate and get away from the city.

I love how he just like says things. He doesn't check with governors or anything like that. Just talks.

You give this 3 more listens and I think you're feeling on the album will improve.

It's not my favorite song at the moment, but the lyrics and performance on Comes Then Goes are tremendous. And I think there's no other song on this album that can compete with it as far as overall emotional ceiling.
I'm a very keep-to-myself type, never more than a handful of close friends. And, someday, if those fade or if something else happens, this one's really going to be crushing. I'm sure that's already the experience some of you are having.
