My vinyl is shipping finally. I've given this album two full listens on Spotify so far and keep coming back to several songs here and there in the meantime.

As good as this album is (maybe their best), it isn't the musicianship statement it was talked up to be. It's still an Ed album with a little tinkering of the instruments here and there. Official reviewers of the album shouldn't have compared songs to Led Zeppelin other than Quick Escape which pj seemed to cut short. They come up with unique song structures and melodies for wordy songs. They can write a million quality songs but despite having 3 guitarists and other band members who attempt it, they can't lay down a layered guitar chord masterpiece composition like Page naturally did. Mike will always live and die by the wah wah peddle, unfortunately.

They gave it a 6.2. I think they started reviewing albums with Riot Act. These are the scores:

In other words, the best album since at least Binaural. =)
