I'm not convinced Valyrian steel is going to do dick against the Others.

I think it's shaping up to be a clear-cut case of "It's like that in the books...but more complicated."

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I'm all for new stories too but If they do a series on the Dance of the Dragons and tell the story of the Targaryen civil war I will be fucking pumped. Dragonriders, legendary swords like Dark Sister, epic battles, I'm down for that.

Yup. I agreed with GRRMs reasoning why they wouldnt do dunk and egg (right now) or robert's rebellion (ever). Give me the Dance of the Dragons or the Wars of Conquest.

Getting to the end of my current re read of AFFC and god damn is Samwell IV (aboard the Cinnamon Wind) a fantastic chapter. You can feel the grief oozing out of the page, the utter despondency of the entire second act of the series is captured beautifully adrift off the coast of Dorne. But there are no trees here. Only water, Sam. Only water.

And there's still hope, but it's the hope being clung to by the dying.

One of my favorite non-Arya chapters in the book. Fuck, I need to re-read this thing soon.

I'm gonna sound like a really pompous, pretentious, asshat here. But guys... I think Feast is just too smart for casual readers. It's probably the most progressive and intelligent and mystery/riddle-packed book in the series so far. Casual readers don't like it because it doesn't have Tyrion and it "seems" slow. But it's so packed with intrigue and mystery and politics and feminism and I really feel that when this whole thing is said and done (if George can ever actually finish the fucking thing) we'll all look back at how powerful and important Feast really is to the overall story/theme.

I'm more inclined to agree with you now than I ever was before. It's a slow burn that just oozes with subext.

The stuff covered in book 4 is far superior to the way that same material is presented in the show. With, perhaps, the obvious exception of that one Sand Snakes boobs. If you're one of those people that is obsessed with and riveted by that pair of breasts, you'll probably be disappointed in the book.
