It is weird the way that works out. It's also weird how when people hear the slightest sniff of the word "steroids" associated with a player and the player is immediately branded a cheater regardless of the level of evidence. Then we literally watch someone cheating on TV and all we hear is "Well... everyone does it."

I'm sure most pitchers DO use something. Clay Buchholz and Michael Pineda and Josh Zeid and that Marlins guy who spit all over the ball last year were all caught doing it, and it was completely ignore. The steroids guys, even those who were doing it when it wasn't actually against the rules, have been raked over the coals for it. So... either change the rule, or start doing something about it when it's so obvious. Why bother having it literally written into the rulebook if you're just going to ignore it and hope it goes away every time someone gets caught?

MLB could really use another good corked bat/pine tar episode to balance things out.

I wish the announcers didnt feel the need to point these things out and break it down like it's the Zapruder film. Everyone knows the shit goes on, and no one cares.

Uecker was in classic Uecker mode talking about it tonight... and wonders why pitchers have gotten away from catchers helping out which apparently, was common in his day, and he was speaking from first hand experience

the biggest difference between doctoring a baseball / pinetar-ing up a bat... and steroids, is steroids are illegal outside of baseball. You cant face jail time for taking a shiv to a ball.
