I admit it drives me fucking crazy when I see people just wander off into a cave in Skyrim or something. I'm like, "no, you arent doing it right! what is your motivation!?"

But I'm also the type that considers skipping cut scenes an act of terror.

That's really weird about Skyrim caves, Burt. Exploration means wonderment, and wonder is the reason I play video games at all.

I'm pretty much with you on this one. I've yet to play a game that gave me an interesting enough world to make me want to truly explore.

I'm hoping No Man's Sky will change that.

There is some pretty amazing shit in Skyrim, though. A few times I had to just stop what I was doing and look around, especially on the mountains. amazing.

90% of video game narratives are uninspired nonsense anyway. Especially within the fantasy genre. It's all just Tolkien-esque bullshit at the end of the day.

Have you played Deus-Ex: Human Revolution, guys? It's not quite open world, but it has some of the most rewarding explorative elements of any modern game.

yeah they are pretty bad usually.

I really liked that game. Seemed like a lot of people didn't, but i thought it was fun.

And yet the game itself may be less than 100mb which is beyond incredible. The team must include some serious old school coders.

I'll believe that game when I see it.

Far Cry 4...pretty cool.

Grim Fandango: Remastered.

I'm glad my favourite game of all time is now easily playable and such, but disappointed they couldn't get hold of the original background/movie assets to spruce them up.

One of the best games ever IMO. So much fun and depth.

I would agree with that. It could very well have my favorite aesthetics of any game ever, at least. The character/environmental design is mindblowing to me, and I feel like the gold tint as a stylistic choice helped with immersion in the futuristic setting. Not to mention the gameplay is just fantastic. I love it when developers allow a starting weapon - in this case the pistol - to be effective for the game's entirety through upgrades and skilled use. Add all of this to an adequately captivating socio-political narrative and you've got an unforgettable experience.

Really enjoyed DE:HR on my Mac; I've also had a digital version on my PS3 since I bought it, and I always want to go in and try a non-lethal playthrough. I'm just worried that the boss fights would be nearly impossible that way. I still remember getting Deus Ex for my birthday in 2000 and being blown away.

I pretty much played non-lethal but stockpiled stuff for the boss fights. Love all the different ways to make things happen in that game.
