Iowa Poll: Trump's approval rating is underwater with Iowans

Forty-two percent of Iowans approve of the job the newly inaugurated Republican is doing as president, while 49 percent disapprove, according to the latest Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll.

Independents are leaning against the new president: 50 percent disapprove of his handling of the presidency while 39 percent approve.

what do people in omaha think?

I haven't caught up on everything yet.

No way trump isn't in bed with the Russians too. No way. He gets into shitnwith every other fucking country. Every one else d bad bad bad. Weak.

But Putin? The only one. What does Putin have on trump? What does trump know?

What if this is all a smokescreen to protect Donald from having to explain what easy d is?

Omaha's pretty blue, but there's a strong military/rich white conservative voting base as well. It's a politically tuned in place, but it's not very demonstrative. Trump isn't popular there at all, but I don't hold my breath for marches.

The Mexican/South American community has the best pediatricians and a kick ass carnival every year. Nobody wants them to leave.

There was a little area off of Saddle Creek that had the best block parties around 15 years ago. 52nd Street. That's what I miss.

NYT: Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence

WASHINGTON — Phone records and intercepted calls show that members of Donald J. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election, according to four current and former American officials.

American law enforcement and intelligence agencies intercepted the communications around the same time that they were discovering evidence that Russia was trying to disrupt the presidential election by hacking into the Democratic National Committee, three of the officials said. The intelligence agencies then sought to learn whether the Trump campaign was colluding with the Russians on the hacking or other efforts to influence the election.

The officials interviewed in recent weeks said that, so far, they had seen no evidence of such cooperation.

But the intercepts alarmed American intelligence and law enforcement agencies, in part because of the amount of contact that was occurring while Mr. Trump was speaking glowingly about the Russian president, Vladimir V. Putin. At one point last summer, Mr. Trump said at a campaign event that he hoped Russian intelligence services had stolen Hillary Clinton’s emails and would make them public.

The officials said the intercepted communications were not limited to Trump campaign officials, and included other associates of Mr. Trump. On the Russian side, the contacts also included members of the Russian government outside of the intelligence services, the officials said. All of the current and former officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because the continuing investigation is classified.

Some of these people were not tied to the campaign...only to the candidate.

If that turns out to be true, that could put an end to any "what did Donald know" talk.

looking forward to all the other things that the loyal patriots in the intelligence community will be doing to expose pinko trump and his crony condo sales staff for the next less-than-four years

Maybe Trump will get really crazy and dismantle the CIA controlled shadow government.

one would hope that, candidate or president, there would still be criminal penalties out there for conspiring with a foreign government to influence an American election

It's gonna be weird on the first full day we get back to the newspapers not being the most amazing read anybody could choose.
