Well sir, I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

I am a fan of the first half of S/T and I enjoyed Backspacer for what it was.
I'm also a huge fan of Ten, No Code and Vitalogy. Thus far, I've been disappointed with LB.
I think there's a good chunk of folks who fall into this category here....a good chunk that want some better Pearl Jam, but to me, this looks like Backspacer Part II, and that's not what I was looking for.
Hoping to be proven wrong, but with three songs in the books, and about nine to go, I'm not optimistic.
Still, I'll buy the album and hope to enjoy 4-6 tunes...much like Backspacer...I just think they are capable of more, but certain creative elements of the band are now muted.

And I also think we've got some great folks on this board (Stip, Platy, Kevin Davis) who do a great job of dissecting songs in an objective manner.

indeed. life is too short and music too easily available to waste much time listening to merely adequate songs.

I listened to REM's first MTV Unplugged show in the car on the way to work today; "You are the Everything" - I just adore that live version....

I could make a comic out of this concept.

My only reason for being a little cynical about posts like this is that I've read them before or directly after the last three or four PJ albums, almost verbatim.

normally, I give a band one or two meh albums before I stop following them very closely. pj gets three. so if this one doesn't move me I'll probably just hang out in ' other bands' and stop bitching about this one.
now some of you are really rooting for this album to suck!

I saw this pop up in another thread, and thought it was a joke. Are you serious? Is he ok?

I had a sneaky listen to those two new songs. Not really feeling much from either of them. Bit disappointing, especially LB. Pj are better than this I think.
Nervous now.

Are we certain that Future Days is on the album?

His pre song dialogue was pretty convincing.

Yes. Brendan O'Brien 'who helped us make this record' was playing on it, with a pointlessly prominent electric piano.

That chorus in lightning bolt. It's a bit amateur, no?
