anybody ever realize that they don't sell albums nor tour as much as they use to? So they don't make as much money, or as easily as before.

Maybe some of the guys made bad investments, blown some money, or got divorced and lost half what they had? Maybe they want to make more so they can donate more. Maybe they're positioning themselves with decision makers and politicians to influence them to do what is right, or help out with their interests.

I'm sure these guys are set for life, but don't make it out as if they are filthy rich. They're not. Do you think Boom is? What about the roadies, 10C staff, etc. Maybe the band wants to keep the machine going because they feel obligated and care about the people who have helped them.

LET THE FREE MARKET DECIDE, EH GENTS?

*puff, puff*

Yes. One of RM's quasi socialists is happy to say that this is precisely the kind of stuff the market should decide.

You're kind of right. It's odd that this gets debated only because it is, for the most part, such a non-event.

As long as the music is still good, amirite? amirite!?

I'm still confused about "pearl jam" investing in anything. Are they some sort of investment group now? If so, please give me some pointers on how to best avoid partnering with a silly rock band to invest in anything, except maybe a business that sells vinyl rereleases to mentally ill people with entirely too much money.

Better yet, when you find someone who agrees with you, just jerk each other off while you're in the shower together. Go Heathen! Go cutuphalfdead!

There's always the circle jerk. This forum has mastered it quite well over the years.

Of course I do, mary. I have a long history with 70's/80's punk and the (sometimes unfortunate) spawnings of it.

oh.

really, though. it's difficult to determine who knows what music from around then. they only inhabited some vague underground of music for me until i got out of high school and started listening to college radio, i just wasn't very cool in the 80s.

My dad was a hard rock/heavy metal fan (saw Metallica and Ozzy with him in 6th grade). An older cousin introduced me to stuff like the Clash, Husker Du, Sugarcubes, Talking Heads, etc. The all white farming community I grew up in had an obsession with hip-hop, so there's that. The only stuff I never really got into was 80's pop. Hell, I even saw Stryper in concert.

I thought I hit an all time high in my cool quotient at the age of 18 upon discovering The Jesus and Mary Chain's Psychocandy...
