Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
I appreciate everybody chiming in here with ideas. I think the best possible solution is going to be some sort of HD vine, where several people send me an HD and I load stuff, and then those people share it with others. That's how this stuff used to be done, and that's how it's still done in the Nirvana world.
I'm going to do an inventory soon of what I have in stock. It's been years since I made any sort of bootlist but I'm going to need make one before I do any distribution. I remember getting a Pearl Jam HD and discovering like eight versions of 4/03/1994 but like 50 shows missing that shouldn't have been missing.
In a related note, I just managed to find a copy of Echo of Miles on Discogs for $30. It's a beautiful product and I'm glad I was able to find a copy at what should have been the retail price, rather than the limited edition markup.

My copy of "Screaming Life" showed up a couple days ago. The first four tracks are the bee's knees.

Saw on HDtracks there's a hi-res copy of Screaming Life. Not sure what that would get you at that price.

I'm not sure why it would be necessary to get that in HD. The recording quality is what it is, as all the early Jack Endino releases sound like that.bune wrote:Saw on HDtracks there's a hi-res copy of Screaming Life. Not sure what that would get you at that price.

Thanks for the tip, Matt. I just found a copy of the Echo of Miles box for £39 GBP on Discogs which, while not quite as great a bargain as yours, is much cheaper than I've seen it elsewhere lately.

That Rusty Cage demo version that just came out, yeah that's the shit right there. Awesome stuff.
Always thought the production on Badmotorfinger sucked.

Yeah. Compression was used heavily on that album.Jammer XCI wrote:That Rusty Cage demo version that just came out, yeah that's the shit right there. Awesome stuff.

I definitely wouldn't say that excessive compression is the problem, the album is very dynamic compared to most rock albums released in the last 10 or 15 years.

I meant more in the area of instrument compression rather than overall mastering compression.

Does anyone have any recommendations for post-reunion boots to get?
I have a bunch from 1987 - 1997 but looking for suggestions 2010 and beyond.
I appreciate it

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
I agree with all of these except for the 8/05/2010 Chicago Vic show which had a nice long setlist but the band sounded really under rehearsed from what i remember. The 7/16/2011 Chicago show on the other hand is amazing although the 2011 shows seemed to suffer a little from the use of too much echo being used on Chris Cornell's voice.matt reeder wrote:4/16/2010 SeattleCitizenByron wrote:Does anyone have any recommendations for post-reunion boots to get?

I'd also like to recommend:
08/07/2011 New Jersey
09/11/2012 Shepherd's Bush (Chris sounds great here)
01/27/2013 Detroit (Amazing setlist & performance)
05/25/2013 Austin TX
Just want to ask Matt if the:
Calgary 07/27/2011 (setlist looks fantastic)
Hammerstein New York 01/22/2013
Hammerstein New York 01/23/2013
Tabernacle 05/07/2013
Tabernacle 05/08/2013
Brixton 09/18/2013
Brixton 09/19/2013
shows ever surfaced in full as I've managed to piece together incomplete versions of the hammerstein shows from a lossless source and the second hammerstein and first Brixton shows seem like two of the best shows of the reunion?

The Calgary show has never surfaced. I have some HD video that I downloaded from YouTube but no actual recordings other than that.blackholesun85 wrote: Just want to ask Matt if the:

The Tabernacle shows are out there. I know a guy who videotaped both of them but he's kind of hard to reach. I just haven't put much effort into getting them. He might have put his audio recordings of both on The Trader's Den but I forget. I have the first night at least.
The Hammerstein shows I've never seen. I stopped paying attention sometime during 2013 when I published my first book and began work on my second book, and I haven't started paying attention since then. I've never seen the Brixton shows either.

I'm working on a third book right now that is larger in scope than the first two. It probably won't be out until Spring 2018.
As for Soundgarden, I've gone through my .TXT files from the 2010-2015 reunion years and found 77 lossless (well, mostly) recordings and some 10+ lossy boots, mostly from TV broadcasts. There are a few shows that were sent to me mp3 only, and there's also my TERRIBLE recording of the 2/06/2013 Portland show that I made with an mp3 recorder in mono just in case nobody taped the show. So we're looking at 90-100 audio recordings just from the reunion years.
Now it's on to the original phase of the band's career. My memory says I have about 250 shows but I've kind of lost track at this point. When I'm done cataloging these I'll post a list here, then move on to video.
