I don't disagree with Trumps' decision but I would wish we had a more competent commander in chief now that he has kicked the hornets' nest. Iraq was a disaster because we weren't prepared what to do next after "Mission Accomplished" and I hope that type of history doesn't repeat.

Trump knows more than the generals, remember? And even though he didn't serve he always felt like he was part of the military because of the boarding school his parents shipped him off to after he threw rocks at the neighbors baby.

Pete is so full of shit. He's probably been practicing speeches in the mirror for this stuff since he was a kid. I'm not buying it.

Also, does anyone have insight into what Pete did in the military? I haven't looked into it. The way he talks about his service makes it come off as something he pursued purely as a political chip to play in elections.

In terms of the safety of civilians in western nations, this was far worse. QS specialized in asymmetric warfare and his replacement (deputy of 22 years) is like minded. It’s not hard to imagine Iran exploiting the political discord in the US with targeted, intentionally low casualty attacks inside the US to whip up anti-Trump sentiment going into the election

these wars don’t have honest objectives. the US didn’t need Iraq’s oil last time - and the world doesn’t need it now because fracking changed everything. beating these shithole middle eastern countries up is all about projecting power and testing weaponry. so when the nation-building doesn’t pan out this time - dont worry - the expectation never was that the leftover government would be stable. it’s about having a fenced in area for perpetual war. far away from here.
